Responsibilities The Staff Psychiatrist functions as a leader of the interdisciplinary treatment team in a child and adolescent psychiatric hospital. This leadership is effected through supervising and directing the team’s professional assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment, discharge planning, performance improvement and clinical programming activities. Staff psychiatrists also share on-call responsibilities to ensure continuity of high-quality care. The preferred and appointed candidate will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and/or alcohol testing. Education Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine. Experience Completion of a psychiatric residency program and one year of experience as a psychiatrist in a mental health, clinic, program, or correctional facility. Possession of a license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan. Some positions require possession of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology “general requirements” for certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
