Lecturer AY – English and Modern Languages Job No: 557039 | Work Type: Instructional Faculty – Temporary/Lecturer | Location: Pomona Position Temporary faculty pool for part‑time teaching appointments. Positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term runs from late August to mid‑December, the Spring term from mid‑January to mid‑May, and summer sessions may also be available. Teaching Areas English Rhetoric and Composition Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages Linguistics English Education French German Chinese (Mandarin) Spanish Responsibilities Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, French, German, Chinese, Spanish, or a related discipline relevant to the curriculum. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Linguistics, French, German, Chinese, Spanish, or a related discipline. Prior college or university‑level teaching experience and evidence of strong teaching. Salary and Benefits Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester. The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677. Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224. Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523. Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211.
