About the Position
Reporting to the Director, Health Services Quality and Modernization, the Research and Innovation Specialist (RIS) is responsible for developing relationships with partners and synthesizing various forms of evidence to get the right information into the right hands at the right time. The RIS leads and proactively seeks opportunities for multi-faceted knowledge mobilization (KM) initiatives that will advance CCSA’s priorities to achieve desired change in programs, policies and practice. The RIS conducts research and integrated KM, including developing and disseminating innovative approaches to evidence-based research and product dissemination, as well as transforming evidence and experiences into training and implementation that strengthens knowledge among various audiences. The RIS establishes strategic partnerships and buy-in from a range of collaborators to achieve these changes and works collaboratively with other divisions in CCSA.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Research and Integrated Knowledge Mobilization Strategy
- Plans, leads and conducts research, which may include study design, data sources and analyses, developing and implementing plans and managing scope, timelines and costs of projects
- Works with CCSA colleagues to interpret and summarize research findings for knowledge mobilization plans, products, tools and activities to inform practice, policy and program development or can be used as educating and training materials for different audiences
- Contributes to research proposals or grant applications
- Presents research or knowledge products at conferences, symposia, partner meetings and workshops, adapting presentation and style to audiences
- Supports project management activities, including co-ordinating project work, collaborating with colleagues and identifying deliverables, timelines, risks, budgets and partner engagement milestones
- Schedules, organizes and attends all project development meetings and events, ensuring appropriate attendees are present and preparing relevant materials, presentations and documents
Partnership Engagement
- Proactively initiates and develops strategic relationships with partners including those with lived or living experience of substance use
- Responsible for all inside project development efforts, including responding to and following up on inquiries and maintaining engagement
- Identifies potential risks and benefits for projects and liaises with the team to resolve problems
- Builds strong relationships through ongoing communication and support to encourage the active participation, satisfaction and commitment of partners and contributors
- Tracks deliverables and keeps partners and all interested parties updated about progress

Qualifications
- Master’s degree or doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., science, arts and humanities, health administration, adult education) or area related to the substance use field
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in a similar role;a combination of experience and education will be considered
- Ability to conduct evidence-based research, interpret and identify key results from health and other research and summarize findings in plain language (presentations and writing)
- Strong writing skills with the ability to explain complex research findings and prepare KM products in a clear and concise manner (e.g., reports, presentations, public education)
- Experience identifying and applying best practices in integrated KM to multi-faceted KM strategies (e.g., communications, education, training, resource development, stakeholder engagement) and evaluating the uptake, use and impact of this knowledge
- Familiarity with partner engagement, consultation and related data collection methods through various mechanisms, including surveys, focus groups and social media
- Ability to understand, express and apply quantitative and qualitative analysis concepts, methods and processes
- Learning mindset: eager to learn, try new things and experiment with and build on ideas while constantly looking to expand skill set
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment
- Initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision

Assets

Relevant du directeur, Qualité et modernisation des services de santé, le ou la titulaire est responsable de créer des liens avec des partenaires et de synthétiser différentes formes de données probantes pour diffuser la bonne information aux bonnes personnes au bon moment. De façon proactive, il ou elle cherche et pilote de nouvelles initiatives de mobilisation des connaissances multidimensionnelles qui feront avancer les priorités du CCDUS et permettront d’obtenir les changements escomptés dans les programmes, politiques et pratiques. Il ou elle fait de la recherche et de la mobilisation intégrée des connaissances (définir et faire connaître des façons novatrices d’aborder la recherche factuelle et la diffusion des produits, transformer les données probantes et expériences en activités de formation et de mise en œuvre qui renforcent les connaissances de divers publics, etc.). Le ou la titulaire établit des partenariats stratégiques, obtient l’adhésion de nombreux acteurs en vue de concrétiser ces changements et travaille en collaboration avec des collègues d’autres divisions du CCDUS.
Responsabilités et obligations de rendre compte
Recherche et mobilisation intégrée des connaissances
- Planifier, diriger et mener des recherches, ce qui peut inclure la sélection de la méthodologie et des sources de données, la réalisation d’analyses, l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre de plans, et la gestion de la portée, des échéanciers et des coûts des projets
- Collaborer avec des collègues du CCDUS pour interpréter et résumer les résultats de la recherche; ces synthèses seront à la base de plans, de produits, d’activités et d’outils de mobilisation des connaissances qui viendront orienter l’élaboration de pratiques, de politiques et de programmes ou serviront à sensibiliser et à former divers publics
- Contribuer à la préparation de propositions de recherche ou de demandes de subvention
- Présenter des études ou des produits de connaissance lors de congrès, de symposiums, de rencontres avec des partenaires et d’ateliers, tout en adaptant le contenu et le style en fonction du public
- Contribuer aux activités de gestion des projets, p. ex. assurer la coordination des projets, collaborer avec des collègues, définir des livrables et des échéances, cerner les risques, établir des budgets et favoriser la participation des partenaires
- Prévoir, organiser et participer à toutes les réunions et activités des projets, veiller à ce que les acteurs concernés soient présents et préparer le matériel, les présentations et les documents nécessaires
Mobilisation des partenaires
- Établir et développer de façon proactive des liens stratégiques avec des partenaires, notamment avec des personnes ayant un savoir expérientiel de l’usage de substances
- Être responsable de toutes les activités internes d’élaboration de projets (p. ex. répondre aux demandes de renseignements, faire le suivi nécessaire, maintenir le niveau de mobilisation)
- Cerner les risques et les bienfaits potentiels des projets et rester en contact avec l’équipe pour résoudre les problèmes
- Établir des liens solides afin de favoriser la pleine participation, la satisfaction continue et l’engagement réel des partenaires et contributeurs en restant en communication avec eux et en leur offrant du soutien
- Assurer le suivi des livrables et tenir les partenaires et autres acteurs au courant des progrès

Qualifications
- Maîtrise ou doctorat dans une discipline pertinente (sciences, lettres et sciences humaines, administration de la santé, éducation des adultes, etc.) ou dans un domaine en lien avec l’usage de substances
- Au moins deux ans d’expérience de travail dans un poste similaire – les combinaisons d’expérience et d’études seront prises en considération
- Capacité à faire de la recherche factuelle, à interpréter les principaux résultats de la recherche, notamment en santé, ainsi qu’à les résumer dans un langage simple (sous forme de présentations et d’écrits)
- Solides aptitudes en rédaction et capacité à expliquer des résultats de recherche complexes et à préparer des produits de mobilisation des connaissances dans une forme claire et concise (p. ex. rapports, présentations, sensibilisation du public)
- Expérience dans la recherche et l’application de bonnes pratiques en mobilisation intégrée des connaissances à des stratégies multidimensionnelles (p. ex. communications, sensibilisation, formation, élaboration de ressources, mobilisation des intervenants), ainsi que dans l’évaluation de l’adoption, de l’utilisation et de l’impact de ces connaissances
- Connaissance de la mobilisation et de la consultation de partenaires, ainsi que des méthodes de collecte de données par divers mécanismes, dont des sondages, des groupes de discussion et des réseaux sociaux
- Capacité à comprendre, à présenter et à appliquer des concepts, des méthodes et des procédures d’analyse quantitative et qualitative
