Academic - Cardiovascular Critical Care Intensivist with UofL Health

UofL Health and the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, KY, are recruiting an academic Anesthesiologist with a subspecialty certification in critical care to joinitsCardiovascularCritical Care division. The intensivists lead the multi-disciplinary Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team atthe UofL Health – Heart Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.This17-bedunithouses critically ill cardiac surgical patients, critically ill patients requiring mechanicalcirculatorysupport,heart and lung transplant recipients, and patients with unstable ascending aortic disease. The CVICU team comprises physicians, non-physician providers, and dedicated nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. In addition, the CVICU regularly hosts medical students and post-graduate trainees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, including Critical Care Anesthesiology fellows. Opportunities exist for teaching, research, andscholarly effort as well as clinical time in Anesthesiology. Academic rank will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience,and interest of the candidate. The Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care is housed in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The multidisciplinary design of the Department engenders a collaborative relationship between its critical care and surgical members. The successful candidate is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology, has completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in critical care, and is board-certified or board-eligible in Critical Care. Active medical licensure in the state ofKentucky,activeBLSand ACLS certification, and possession of an unrestricted DEA number will be necessary.
