Job Description

The Procurement Clerk supports the maintenance team by developing and managing a practical spare parts inventory system, including organizing and improving the layout of the spare parts rooms. This role focuses on accurate purchasing, inventory control, and timely support to plant personnel to ensure that critical equipment parts are available when needed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to design, implement, and maintain a usable parts inventory system, including the layout and organization of spare parts rooms.

• Provide initial and ongoing support for the plant equipment spare parts storage, including maintaining and using a bar code system to track parts.

• Perform, process, and properly document all issued purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Assist in tracking spending against the available budget and provide updates as needed to support cost control.

• Support plant personnel by helping them locate required items in the storeroom or by identifying and coordinating with appropriate suppliers.

• Maintain, document, and update the plant’s parts inventory, including adding new parts and adjusting records as needed.

• Enter new parts into Fiix, ensuring accurate descriptions, part numbers, and related data.

• Set up and maintain vendor accounts in Fiix, including obtaining W-9 forms, completing new vendor request forms, processing credit applications, and updating contracts and purchase orders in Fiix.

• Monitor low stock items and take action to reorder or escalate as needed to prevent stockouts.

• Track overdue purchase orders and follow up to ensure timely delivery and closure.

• Conduct regular inventory counts, including cycle counts, blind counts, end-of-month counts, quarterly counts, and end-of-year counts, and reconcile discrepancies.

• Support bar coding activities for parts and storage locations to improve inventory accuracy and traceability.

• Operate a forklift safely to move, store, and retrieve parts and materials as needed.

• Assist with stocking and organizing parts in the storeroom to maintain an orderly and efficient workspace.

• Respond to calls during off hours, as needed, to assist in locating spare parts and supporting urgent maintenance needs.

• Apply basic mechanical skills and knowledge to understand equipment parts and ensure correct identification and stocking.

Work Environment

This role is based in a 24/7 manufacturing plant that produces drywall using mostly automated equipment in an industrial setting with high safety standards. The environment includes exposure to dust and dirt, consistent with a heavy manufacturing facility. The position follows a Monday through Friday daytime schedule, typically from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with overtime as required to support plant operations. You will work around industrial machinery and automated systems, use tools such as tape measures, operate or work near forklifts, and handle parts and materials in a busy plant storeroom. The workplace emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures in a fast-paced production environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
