Multifamily Credit Policy & Underwriting Business Analyst

We are seeking experienced Multifamily Credit Policy & Underwriting Business Analysts to support a strategic Multifamily Credit Policy Traceability Assessment for our client.

This role will perform detailed analysis of Multifamily Credit Policy requirements and corresponding Seller/Servicer Guide provisions to establish clear, requirement-level traceability and identify areas of alignment, gaps, inconsistencies, and omissions.

The ideal candidate combines multifamily commercial real estate underwriting and credit knowledge with strong business analysis capabilities. Candidates should understand how multifamily loans are analyzed and structured, how credit policy and underwriting standards are applied, and how complex policy requirements can be decomposed, compared, documented, and validated.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed, requirement-level analysis of Multifamily Credit Policy and corresponding Seller/Servicer Guide provisions.
• Decompose credit policy into discrete, traceable business and underwriting requirements.
• Assess whether requirements are fully aligned, partially aligned, minimally aligned, or not addressed across applicable documentation.
• Analyze differences in terminology, defined terms, thresholds, conditions, exceptions, and language that may represent equivalent requirements.
• Identify and document material gaps, conflicts, inconsistencies, and omissions.
• Apply multifamily underwriting expertise to interpret requirements in the context of actual loan origination, underwriting, credit approval, and closing processes.
• Analyze requirements involving property financial performance, borrower financial position, market considerations, credit risk, deal structure, exceptions, and risk mitigants, as applicable.
• Develop clear, concise traceability documentation supported by appropriate source evidence.
• Collaborate with Freddie Mac Credit Policy, Underwriting, Seller/Servicer Guide, business, and technology SMEs to validate interpretations and resolve questions.
• Proactively identify issues and recommend approaches for resolving traceability or interpretation questions.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality assurance to produce accurate work products with minimal errors.
• Maintain analysis and requirements documentation using Jira, Confluence, and other Freddie Mac-approved tools.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of business analyst and/or systems analyst experience.
• 1+ year of multifamily experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of the multifamily commercial real estate loan market.
• Demonstrated knowledge of multifamily underwriting processes and underwriting standards.
• Experience analyzing credit policy, underwriting requirements, business requirements, procedures, controls, or comparable complex documentation.
• Ability to interpret and decompose detailed policy language into discrete, traceable requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated attention to accuracy and data/document quality.
• Experience with the Atlassian product suite, including Jira and Confluence, with exposure to or familiarity with BitBucket.
• Some technical knowledge of Java and AMQ/JMS/message-driven architecture, sufficient to work effectively with systems and technology analysts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage assigned analysis through completion, proactively raise issues, and recommend resolutions.

• Direct multifamily underwriting or credit experience.
• Knowledge of credit policy, underwriting procedures, and lending systems.
• Experience underwriting or supporting underwriting of one or more:
• Conventional Multifamily
• Targeted Affordable Housing (TAH)
• Student Housing
• Seniors Housing
• Manufactured Housing
• Experience with affordable housing transactions and associated property financial considerations.
• Experience reviewing borrower financial position, market analysis, property-level financial information, or third-party reports.
• Experience with requirements traceability, policy-to-process mapping, control assessments, or regulatory/compliance assessments.
• Experience working with multifamily origination or underwriting technology.
• Familiarity with microservice-based architecture.
