Assistant Surgical Services Technician - OR

Job Summary: This role supports nursing practice and care delivery through a blend of patient care support, communication, and clerical duties in a patient- and family-centered environment that values best practices and excellent customer service. Essential Responsibilities: Fiscal Responsibility: Completes assigned tasks within delegated timeframes, manages equipment transport and reports malfunctions, maintains cleanliness and restocking of areas, and supports operating room turnover activities. Quality: Collaborates as a team member in continuous quality improvement efforts, applies sound judgment in caring for patients based on age and diagnosis, suggests improvements to enhance patient experience, and stays current with policies. Patient Satisfaction: Advocates for patient rights, enhances patient comfort and cooperation by providing necessary items and clear instructions, and communicates strategies to improve satisfaction. Patient Safety: Ensures complete and accurate documentation before patient transport, safely transports surgical patients using proper identification and mobilization techniques, assists nursing staff with patient transfers, and responds appropriately to changes or emergencies. Professional Growth: Recognizes personal limitations and seeks assistance, shares knowledge through orientation and cross-training, demonstrates leadership as a role model, identifies learning needs, and participates in departmental goal development and training. Customer Service: Upholds high customer service standards, supports organizational goals through positive communication, exhibits courtesy and respect to patients and colleagues, practices AIDET communication techniques, and maintains a professional and flexible approach to assignments. Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Computer proficiency required. Area-specific education may be required upon hire and must be maintained.
