Job Description

The Quality Control Manager leads and implements comprehensive project quality control programs for large-scale, mission critical data center construction projects. This role oversees inspections, audits, testing reviews, and documentation management to ensure all work complies with contract documents, client expectations, and industry standards. The position partners closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and owners to drive quality excellence across all phases of construction, supports project turnover and client walkthroughs, and contributes to commissioning and continuous improvement efforts on complex and technologically advanced data center projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement project-specific quality control programs for large-scale mission critical and data center construction projects.

• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and testing reviews to verify that construction work meets contract documents, client requirements, and applicable industry standards.

• Manage quality-related documentation, including inspection reports, tracking logs, and records to maintain accurate and organized project quality files.

• Partner with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and owners to communicate and enforce quality expectations throughout all phases of construction.

• Investigate quality issues as they arise, perform detailed root cause analyses, and ensure that corrective actions are implemented, verified, and properly documented.

• Review construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings to identify and address potential quality risks or discrepancies before and during construction.

• Lead quality meetings with project teams and trade partners to discuss standards, procedures, issues, and improvement opportunities.

• Provide training and guidance to project teams and subcontractors on quality control processes, procedures, and best practices.

• Support project turnover activities, including client walkthroughs and punch list resolution, to confirm that completed work meets all quality requirements.

• Participate in and support commissioning efforts for mission critical and data center projects, ensuring systems and installations perform as designed.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by applying principles such as ISO 9000, Lean, and Kaizen to enhance quality processes and outcomes.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and effective project execution on active construction sites.

• Travel to and support project sites nationwide as needed to oversee and coordinate quality control activities.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, commissioning, construction management, or a related field on large commercial or mission critical projects.

• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and overall building construction processes.

• Demonstrated experience reviewing construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings for quality and compliance.

• Proficiency in quality tracking, inspection reporting, and documentation management within construction environments.

• Ability to lead quality meetings and deliver training to project teams and subcontractors.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders effectively.

• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites nationwide as required.

• Experience with quality control management in data center or mission critical construction projects.

• Familiarity with construction management platforms such as Procore.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on complex, technologically advanced data center projects.

• Knowledge of ISO 9000 standards and their application within construction quality programs.

• Lean construction methodologies and continuous improvement practices.

• Experience applying Kaizen principles to enhance quality processes and project outcomes.

Work Environment

This role operates in a combination of field and office settings located on active data center construction sites. The environment is fast-paced and schedule-driven, with significant daily interaction among project teams, trade partners, clients, and design professionals. The majority of time is spent performing site inspections, audits, walkthroughs, and detailed documentation reviews focused on quality performance and compliance. The team culture is highly collaborative and centered on safety, quality, and successful project execution. Travel to various project locations may be required depending on assignment and project need

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Westmont, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
