Salary Range: $75,000 - $105,000 per year

Under the direction of the Head of School, the Reading Interventionist (Literacy Specialist / Special Education Teacher) plans and delivers targeted reading intervention and differentiated instruction aligned with Common Core Standards and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
You will support students with learning differences (including dyslexia) using evidence-based literacy instruction, including structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham (OG) and Wilson Reading System.
- Plan, organize, and deliver differentiated academic instruction tailored to address individual student learning needs
- Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of each student's learning challenges, formulating goals and objectives to facilitate measurable progress
- Monitor student progress through formal and informal assessments, portfolio development, and grade tracking
- Support and administer weekly progress monitoring of reading-related goals and benchmarking assessments throughout the year
- Conduct three formal parent-teacher conferences annually with written summaries and maintain ongoing communication via phone and email
- Prepare and present IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) and progress reports at IEP meetings with district representatives, parents/guardians, and other attendees
- Serve as backup test administrator for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
- Attend all school staff meetings, academic department meetings, and IEP meetings
- Maintain special education credential through required continuing education or pursuit of advanced degree
- Ensure compliance with school policies, California Educational Code, the CHC Employee Handbook, and Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Law
- Protect the confidentiality of students and families
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Valid California Special Education Credential (or eligibility for intern credential)
- Experience in reading intervention, literacy instruction, or special education teaching, preferably working with students with emotional/behavioral and/or learning challenges
- Understanding of the etiologies of students with anxiety, ADHD, mood dysregulation, and specific learning challenges
- Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills
- Strong background in IEP development, accommodations, and differentiated instruction
- Demonstrated ability to identify accommodations and interventions that facilitate optimal learning experiences
- Familiarity with Common Core Standards, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and MTSS/RTI frameworks
- Ability to establish and maintain data-driven progress monitoring systems and interpret data to inform instruction
- Ability to develop, prepare, deliver, and monitor IEPs based on identified skill and behavioral deficits and Common Core standards
- Ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team and provide guidance to teaching assistants and interns
- Comfort with basic technology systems (G-Suite, Outlook, etc.) and incorporating technology into instructional planning
- Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods during instruction and supervision
- Willingness to work certain evenings for scheduled school events and IEP meetings
- Master’s Degree in Education (M.Ed., Special Education, Literacy, or Reading Specialist) or advanced workshop-level training in teaching students with learning disabilities
- Certification or training in Orton-Gillingham (OG), Wilson Reading System, or structured literacy programs
- Valid California driver's license
- Willingness to complete Pro-ACT crisis intervention training
- Commitment to confidentiality, ethical standards, and student privacy laws
