Positions: Accounts Payable Clerk Position : Part-Time Manager/Supervisor : Financial Service Manager Length of Probation : 90 days Compensation : $18.00 – $24.00 per hour Employment Status : Non-exempt hourly (part-time) 20 hours a week Work Schedule & Hours : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30am to 12:30pm Worksite/Department: Bayview Baptist Church/Operations Position Summary The Accounts Payable Clerk is detail-oriented and is a dependable Accounts Payable Clerk who will assist the Finance Department with entry-level accounts payable functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing invoices, maintaining vendor records, and ensuring timely and accurate payment of church expenses while maintaining confidentiality and supporting the mission and values of Bayview Baptist Church. Representative Duties The Accounts Payable Clerk will perform any combination of the essential duties and requirements shown below. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Receive, review, and process vendor invoices for payment. Verify invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and appropriate account coding. Enter accounts payable transactions into the accounting system. Prepare checks and electronic payments in accordance with church policies. Maintain accurate vendor files, including W-9 forms and vendor setup documentation. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies. Respond to vendor inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. File and maintain accounts payable records and support documentation. Assist with monthly closing procedures related to accounts payable. Ensure compliance with church financial policies and internal controls. Maintain confidentiality of all financial and personnel information. Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned Qualifications Must have a minimum of one year of Accounting experience Must have a solid understanding of Accounting principles and procedures Good communication skills to interact with Church staff, congregants, vendors and community Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Have a respect for worship flow and cultural sensitivity to Church dynamics Education High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or coursework in accounting preferred. Proficiency with accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks) and Microsoft office suites Mandatory Requirements Complete all mandatory requirements indicated within this job description. Physical capacity to perform labor-intensive tasks, including walking for extended periods, lifting at least 50 pounds. Capability to meet schedules and timelines. Understanding of and adherence to the scope of authority. Preparedness to work in environments with potential exposure to dust, chemicals, and temperature variations. Proficiency in following both written and verbal directions. Completing all required employee training, both preventative and informational—within the first 30 days of employment, including: Mandated Reporter First Aid Slips, Trips, and Falls Harassment Training Drug-Free Workplace Back Injury Prevention Workplace Violence Prevention Required to complete a Live Scan within 48 hours of receiving a conditional offer of employment.
