Construction Estimator

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Construction Estimator with extensive experience in a commercial construction environment. The role requires experience in Construction &/or a Design/Build atmosphere. Our company primarily focuses on commercial and industrial buildings, as well as educational institutions, churches, and some residential structures. The position involves estimating from engineering drawings, covering foundations, building systems, electrical work, and both rough and finished construction. Additionally, the role includes land development and infrastructure estimating.

Essential Job Functions

• Understand the project's scope and specific requirements
• Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
• Gather first-hand information from proposed job sites or other necessary locations or sources
• Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times, etc.
• Use software for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
• Obtain and review quotations from subcontractors or vendors
• Perform risk assessments and make recommendations
• Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions, etc.)
• Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, etc.)
• Provide consultation on planning (schedules, client needs, etc.)

Experience and Education

• Proven experience as an estimator or in a similar position
• Familiarity with financial and project management principles
• In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
• Excellent math and IT ability with an analytical mindset
• Proficient in relevant software (Sage, Procore, MS Project)
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
• Thoroughness and reliability
• Excellent organizational skills
• BS/BA in construction science or a related discipline
• Possession of Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) certification is a plus
