We are an automotive film manufacturer based in Jurupa Valley, CA, producing and distributing a premium line of protective and appearance films. As we prepare to launch production, our manufacturing equipment and production lines will soon be installed and commissioned.

The Equipment Engineer will play a key role in this launch, serving as FilMax’s on-site technical contact for equipment vendors and installation teams. This person will coordinate installation, support testing and commissioning, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and help ensure each production line is ready to operate safely and reliably. After launch, the role will continue to support equipment maintenance, repairs, and improvements.

We are looking for a hands-on engineer who can work closely with vendors and our production team, take ownership of equipment issues, and help build a strong foundation for our growing operation.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in both mechanical and electrical systems, with at least 3 years of experience working with industrial or manufacturing equipment.

Install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-system issues.

Perform preventive maintenance and maintain equipment in safe and reliable operating condition.

Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.

Support equipment setup, adjustment, calibration, and production changeovers.

Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.

Work closely with production and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.

Assist with new equipment installation, testing, and acceptance.

Coordinate with equipment vendors and external service providers when necessary.

Maintain maintenance records, spare-parts information, and equipment documentation.

Support continuous improvement projects related to equipment reliability, efficiency, safety, and production capacity.

Follow company safety procedures and applicable workplace safety requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical field preferred.

3+ years of hands-on experience with manufacturing or industrial equipment.

Working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems.

Experience troubleshooting motors, sensors, electrical components, pneumatic systems, and mechanical assemblies.

Ability to use common electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools.

Ability to independently identify equipment problems and perform repairs.

Strong problem-solving and hands-on technical skills.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Experience in manufacturing, automotive film, coating, converting, slitting, or similar production environments is a plus.

PLC, VFD, servo motor, industrial control, or automation experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and around production equipment.

Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform hands-on equipment maintenance as required.

Ability to lift tools, components, and equipment parts as reasonably required for the position.
