Job Description
This role focuses on assembling electronic and electro-mechanical products and sub-assemblies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will build products using pulley and cable systems, machined components, and integrated circuits while following detailed work instructions and Operational Method Sheets (OMS) to ensure high quality, safety, and efficiency. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent adherence to standard operating procedures, and the ability to support continuous improvement activities across the production line.
Responsibilities

• Assemble electronic and electro-mechanical products and sub-assemblies using pulley and cable systems, machined parts, integrated circuits, and basic hand tools.
• Build products in accordance with established routing times and Operational Method Sheets (OMS), ensuring correct form, fit, and function.
• Perform subassemblies and mechanical assembly tasks, including wiring and electronic assembly, as required by the production schedule.
• Read and follow basic written work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to complete tasks accurately and consistently.
• Conduct product inspections at the station to verify quality, identify defects, and ensure products meet specifications.
• Complete required station audits, including Tool Audits, Kanban Health Audits, and Card Audits, and document results as needed.
• Capture quality issues, test data, and continuous improvement opportunities in the PA Dashboard to support ongoing process enhancement.
• Process Kanban cards accurately to maintain transactional integrity and ensure correct material flow.
• Verify that proper quantities of each item are assembled, labeled, and processed at the station in line with production requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 6S principles and company standards.
• Monitor Kanban health status, identify issues, and implement or support appropriate countermeasures.
• Apply advanced attention to detail and promptly escalate quality issues, defects, or process discrepancies to a Lead or Supervisor.
• Use an intermediate understanding of the quality notification (QN) process to identify, document, and submit quality issues as needed.
• Support station, line, and plant priorities by aligning daily work with key performance indicators (KPIs) and production goals.
• Engage actively in continuous improvement activities and identify potential process improvements within the production area.
• Proactively identify and escalate safety concerns to maintain a safe working environment for all associates.
• Recognize incorrect or outdated process documentation and propose updates through the redlining process.
• Apply an intermediate understanding of 6S principles by participating in and upholding organization, cleanliness, and safety standards.
• Take ownership of individual performance, adapt to operational changes, and uphold expectations for behavior and results.
• Stay current on required processes, certifications, and training to maintain qualifications in assigned areas.
• Apply NBS Next or similar operational principles in day-to-day activities and decision-making to support operational excellence.
• Maintain an open, positive attitude toward learning, innovation, and process changes within operations and the division.
• Demonstrate flexibility by moving up and down the production line and willingly accepting other duties as assigned.
• Collaborate with Leads or Supervisors to help fill resource gaps and support team coverage when available.
• Show respect for others, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and give and receive constructive feedback professionally.
• Complete all required training in designated systems (such as Master Control and other internal platforms) within specified timelines.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance and work extended hours outside the regular shift schedule when required by operational needs.
• Lift and handle items up to and above 50 pounds safely as part of routine assembly and production tasks.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of assembly experience or manufacturing production experience.
• Demonstrated experience performing mechanical assembly, including working with pulley and cable systems and machined products.
• Proven ability to perform electronic assembly and work with integrated circuits and wiring.
• Ability to read and follow basic written work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Advanced ability to perform the roles and responsibilities of an assembler, with consistent and proven expertise in trained areas.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools used in mechanical and electronic assembly.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate computer programs used for production, documentation, and dashboards.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more safely and repeatedly as required by production tasks.
• Strong attention to detail with a clear focus on product quality and process accuracy.
• Simple but effective oral communication skills to interact with team members, Leads, and Supervisors.
• Visual acuity and manual dexterity sufficient to perform detailed assembly work and inspections.
• Reliability and willingness to work extended hours outside of the regular shift schedule when required by operational needs.
• Experience working in an assembler role in a structured production environment.
• Ability to identify quality issues, defects, or discrepancies and escalate them appropriately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in an assembler role within a similar production or manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate understanding of quality notification (QN) processes and the ability to submit quality issues accurately.
• Familiarity with Kanban systems, including card processing, Kanban health assessments, and related countermeasures.
• Experience performing or supporting station audits such as Tool Audits, Kanban Health Audits, and Card Audits.
• Understanding of 6S principles and prior participation in 6S or similar workplace organization programs.
• Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives and the ability to identify and suggest process improvements.
• Comfort working within structured operational frameworks such as NBS Next or similar lean and operational excellence systems.
• Ability to provide informal guidance to less experienced employees based on advanced assembler skills.
• Openness to learning new processes, tools, and certifications and adapting to operational changes.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to show respect, understand different viewpoints, and participate in constructive feedback.
• Willingness to move between stations and tasks along the production line to support changing operational needs.

Work Environment
You will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment within a brand-new, very clean, and well-ventilated building that features a large production floor. The facility operates with strong safety and quality standards, including the use of smocks and safety glasses provided on-site. Each new employee receives a locker to secure personal belongings. The standard schedule for this role is on second shift, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime after the shift and on weekends as required by operational needs. Initial training will take place on first shift for approximately one month before transitioning to the regular second-shift schedule. You will use basic hand and power tools, computers for navigating programs and dashboards, and work within structured systems such as Kanban, OMS, and formal audit processes to support production.

This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
