Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mission Critical (AFG) Location: Atlanta, GA, 30339, United States Role Summary The Senior Mechanical Engineer will manage complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities. Responsibilities include estimating, scheduling, quality control, commissioning, and business development for selected projects. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical and electrical design and construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements. Develop budgetary M/E estimates using program design information and automated estimating systems. Coordinate mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process and assess system options. Assist in bid analysis and provide input during subcontractor selection. Design and implement sequencing requirements to meet project schedules. Review design documents to identify potential quality issues and develop constructability reviews. Conduct job inspections, maintain quality assurance, and ensure timely completion of work. Manage shop drawing and submittal processes, approving drawings before submission to the design team. Develop pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and commissioning plans. Verify contractor performance during functional testing and correct deficiencies. Prepare and issue commissioning documentation, ensuring owner acceptance. Mentor less experienced team members and support team development. Create M/E tools and innovative solutions to improve processes and deliverables. Negotiate and manage subcontractor agreements and procure equipment from vendors. Build and maintain client relationships, serving as the direct liaison for M/E activities. Participate in marketing, business development, and client presentations. Represent the M/E department at external community events. Manage resource allocation, staffing of assigned projects, and ensure reimbursement targets are met. Relationship‑building with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency with construction technology, scheduling software, and BIM. Lean process application. Budget management and profitability focus. Competency with ASE and Lens systems. Project life‑cycle ownership from initiation to completion. Range estimating and budget preparation. Support marketing presentations and activities. Team management capabilities. Education Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field is required. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Experience Preferred: 10+ years of construction management experience. Working Environment Valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
