Construction Inspector 1-4

About This Job District 05 – Unit 205, Monroe–Ouachita Parish. Responsibilities Assist professional engineer and/or higher level technicians in the performance of construction inspection work. Self‑motivate to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. Participate in DOTD structured training programs, attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary. Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with departmental policies, standards, specifications, and project plans. Complete and process construction documentation such as field diaries, reports, and estimates. Enter, review, and maintain construction project data in departmental systems (e.g., MATT, Site Manager, Content Manager). Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures while working in the Project Engineer’s office and at construction sites. Serve as the primary construction inspector in assigned areas of specialization or certification. Determine material sampling requirements and verify materials, haul quantities, and survey elevations and alignments. Complete required training and support efficient project operations, including assisting other staff as needed. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub‑professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance. Position‑Specific Details Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. Career Progression: May be filled as a Construction Technician 1–4 or Construction Inspector 1–4. Compensation: Starting salaries: Construction Inspector 1 – $1198.40 bi‑weekly. Construction Inspector 2 – $1372.00 bi‑weekly. Construction Inspector 3 – $1570.40 bi‑weekly. Construction Inspector 4 – $1797.60 bi‑weekly. Premium pay: $2.00 per hour for Construction Technician 1–4. Work schedule: 7:45 am – 4:15 pm, Monday‑Friday.
