Job Overview We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Sourcing Engineer to support sourcing for our Norther American compressor products. This person will be a member of our Industrial Technologies & Services Americas Sourcing Organization, supporting the development, implementation, and management of standard and engineered to order products to provide Ingersoll Rand with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance. The Sourcing Engineer builds and leverages strong working relationships with our engineering teams and key suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met, as well as works towards good supplier relationships to achieve maximum advantage for Ingersoll Rand and our customers. Responsibilities Lead negotiations and supplier selection Continuously look for new savings opportunities through analysis of data (spend, purchase price variance, etc.) and hands on review of materials in the production areas Lead Request for Proposal (RFP) process with all stakeholders Work with suppliers and internal team members to qualify new parts Negotiate key items with suppliers including pricing, payment terms, lead time, and inventory programs Record and track information as required for timely and accurate measure of performance regarding sourcing activities and savings Support the plants to help local teams efficiently resolve escalated issues Lead Procurement NPD activities through preferred supplier programs and RFQs Identify gaps to goals and collaboratively develop and support countermeasures and activities to close the gap and exceed targets Work to align strategies between commodity and sector localization, plant rationalization and similar Work with suppliers to address significant and/or systemic issues with performance (quality, delivery, warranty, etc.) as may be required in support of plant Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality teams Coordinate with commodity teams, materials, operations, engineering, finance, quality, and field operations to complete projects and achieve expected benefits within project timeline Create continuous improvement ideation sessions for responsible plants. Generate and evaluate new ideas and opportunities aligned with plant priorities and strategies Participate in and represent Sourcing function during plant or product Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) or Major Model Review (MMR) events. Responsible for collecting and communicating commodity actions following event Perform additional duties as assigned and participate in special projects as required Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent 5+ years' experience of progressively responsible job-related experience 3+ years' experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word, is required 5+ years' experience well-developed negotiation skills and assessing vendors Core Competencies Complex Decision-Making Impeccable time-management Supply Chain Acumen Project Management Relationship Management Strong bias for action and results orientation Must be a self-starter; motivated with expert overall sourcing expertise Incumbent must have strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated effective leadership and influencing skills and practices Experience coordinating, facilitating discussions, consultation and conflict resolution skills Ability and willingness to understand and interact with diverse groups and cultures Evidence of skills & attributes including effective listening, gathering complete information, ensuring accuracy, problem-solving, negotiating, researching discrepancies, and handling conflict are critical Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet compressed deadlines, and handle frequent interruptions is essential Ability and willingness to respond quickly and appropriately in a dynamic, fast paced work environment and the flexibility to withstand challenging situations Preferences Background in engineering or technical sourcing Oracle & SAP experience in a global environment is beneficial Experience in manufacturing environment Demonstrated career progression Proficiency using Excel at an advanced level (use financial and logical functions; work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; edit and use macros/import and export information) is strongly preferred Previous lean manufacturing or 6 Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt experience a plus Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy, and using it to drive decisions as well as present results and business cases to management Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements Fully site based Can be located at one of our Compression Systems manufacturing locations in United States Ability to travel up to 10% Pay Range The pay range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000. The pay range considers a wide range of factors that include a candidate’s skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
