Safety Manager

Safety SpecialistKey ResponsibilitiesSupport implementation and enforcement of project-specific safety programs, policies, and procedures.Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.Assist with new worker orientations and ongoing safety training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.Lead or participate in daily pre-task planning meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.Monitor work activities to ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fall protection systems, and other safety controls.Assist in incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, including documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.Maintain accurate safety records, reports, permits, inspections, and training documentation.Coordinate with project teams to ensure compliance with site access requirements and client-specific safety protocols.Track and report leading and lagging safety indicators.Support emergency response planning and preparedness efforts.Work collaboratively with superintendents, project engineers, subcontractors, and project managers to proactively address safety concerns.Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and continuous engagement with field personnel.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred.1-4+ years of construction safety experience, internship experience, or related EHS experience.Knowledge of OSHA construction standards and industry best practices.Ability to identify hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of a project team.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and standard safety reporting software.Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.Experience on large commercial, industrial, semiconductor, life sciences, or mission-critical projects is highly preferred.Preferred QualificationsOSHA 30 Construction Certification.First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.CHST designation or progression toward professional safety certifications.Experience working on occupied campuses, high-tech manufacturing facilities, cleanroom environments, or large-scale industrial construction projects.Familiarity with contractor management systems and permit-to-work processes.What Success Looks LikeDemonstrates a visible commitment to safety through consistent field presence.Builds strong relationships with craft workers and project leadership.Identifies and mitigates risks before incidents occur.Maintains organized documentation and compliance records.Contributes to a culture where safety is viewed as a core project value rather than a requirement.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
