PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Resident Services Program provides services to support residents, build community, and offer social and educational programs to improve the stability, quality of community life, and wellness of individuals and families. Duties are site-based, vary with site needs, and may include, for example, to collaborate with site management staff, property managers and other staff to ensure that services are coordinated effectively and consistently; to respond to and intervene in resident problems and crises; and to create and implement resident initiatives designed to promote inclusion in the development of communities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Catholic Charities of Oregon (CCO) provides culturally responsive resident services at affordable housing complexes across Oregon. The Good Shepherd Resident Services Specialist (RSS) is part of CCO's resident services team and will plan, coordinate, and provide services to support residents, build community, and offer social and educational programs to improve the stability, quality of community life, and wellness of individuals and families.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Referrals and Resources

• Foster and promote positive relationships with residents; act as an approachable and engaging on-site presence.
• Greet residents and building visitors and direct as needed to the appropriate areas.

• Update lobby area with building forms, as well as information about resources and area attractions.
• Maintain community room library.
• Assist in compiling materials for welcome packets.
• Act as contact person for Go Forth electric cars; ensure that residents have signup information, check that cars are plugged in.
• Assist residents in completing forms such as maintenance requests and resident reports.
• Assist new residents with move in and orientation within the community.
• Maintain a database and/or library of information and referral resources and provide information and referral services to residents.
• Submit incident reports and notify appropriate property management or service staff as needed.

Programming

• Lead programming and host events.
• Tasks include all phases of planning, event communication (newsletter, flier, emails, etc.), budgeting, staffing, prep (procuring supplies such as food for the food pantries) and post event clean up (light cleaning and donating items),
• Programming includes food pantries, after-school and summer youth activities, such as movie nights and study halls.
• Organizer of donations, including the food pantry items, along with other varied donations such as bedding, cleaning supplies, etc .

Outreach

• Liaison to nearby schools, parishes, and community.

Miscellaneous

• Participate in training and meetings as requested by their supervisor.
• Adherence to Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• In the absence of the Community Manager, respond to emergency situations such as medical, police, fire emergencies, and take appropriate action including contact emergency services (911), evacuating buildings, etc. if needed.
• Light cleaning as needed to keep building orderly.
• Coordinate with other on-site staff, including case managers and peer support, as well as external staff who support residents in the building.
• Document any resident interactions, issues or suggestions and share them with the Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent lived and/or worked experience required.
• Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in English; required.
• Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish; preferred.
• Two years' work or volunteer experience preferred.
• Certification (or ability to certify within 30 days of hire) and ability to maintain certification in CPR, 1st Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens and Narcan Training.
• Lived experience or experience working with low-income families and individuals.
• Basic understanding and knowledge of Clackamas County resourcess.
• Demonstrated competency working with people from diverse cultures. Ability to assess and treat clients in a culturally competent manner
• Ability to effectively work with standard office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
• Commitment to Catholic Charities mission to work in partnership with vulnerable populations to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, which could include some evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Travel between sites in Portland required. Must have driver's license, access to vehicle and ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency.
