City of Temple Terrace STARTING SALARY RANGE: $$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year (Exempt) POSITION: Accountant III POSITION NO: 2.107 DEPT: Finance Under the general direction of the Assistant Finance Director, this position is responsible for the following areas: coordinating with Human Resources for the Finance portion of processing payroll; monthly journal entries for various items, including fixed assets, investments and debt; Fleet inventory; monthly and quarterly financials; annual budget; annual audit; as well as other tasks deemed necessary. As a member of the Finance Team, this position will also be required to participate in cross training in other areas. This training may include, but is not limited to duties related to grants, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and utility billing.
**MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.** MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Proficient knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards
• Proficient knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Proficient knowledge of accounting terms and processes
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
• Knowledge to work in several areas within the Finance Department as needed Ability to:
• Exhibit an exceptional learning capacity.
• Plan, organize, and/or prioritize daily assignments and work activities, and complete work assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide professional, punctual, and courteous service to the public, and deal with adversarial situations tactfully and firmly while striving to maintain a spirit of cooperation and problem solving.
• Display patience under difficult and stressful conditions.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Plan and perform duties independently while exercising good judgment and initiative.
• Interact in a professional and respectful manner with city staff and the public.
• Communicate effectively and maintain effective relationships with supervisors, staff, volunteers, community, and senior citizens. Training, Certification, and Experience
• MUST HAVE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE.
• Prefer minimum of 4 years' experience working in governmental accounting.
• Prefer four-year degree/certification in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the foregoing specific requirements may be substituted.
• Valid Drivers' License with acceptable driving record.
• Proof of the following NIMS/FEMA certifications will obtain preference (must be completed within the first 2 years of employment) o *ICS-100, *ICS-200, *ICS-300, * ICS-700
