The Department of Molecular Biosciences at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of immunology. We welcome applications from outstanding scientists whose areas of interest span the broader field of immunology including but not limited to foundational mechanisms of immune responses host-pathogen interactions neuroimmunology immune interactions with the microbiome autoimmunity and inflammation cancer immunology hematopoiesis and immune system development structural immunology and computational/systems immunology.
The Department of Molecular Biosciences is composed of a broad faculty whose research interests span many disciplines including biochemistry molecular biology structural biology and biophysics cell and developmental biology plant biology microbiology immunology and infectious diseases biotechnology and systems and synthetic biology. We are excited to welcome collaborative scientists who actively interact with our faculty members and take advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities.
Successful candidates are expected to establish and sustain a vibrant research program; serve as dedicated teachers and mentors at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; and assist in the administrative and governance functions of the department the university and the profession via service on committees as appropriate. Applicants at the assistant professor level must have plans to develop an exciting independent research program and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education.

Successful candidates will be eligible for membership in the Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Graduate Programs which includes the and collectively recruit a talented pool of graduate students each year. We also have outstanding core facilities including those within the Center for Biomedical Research Support the Texas Advanced Computing Center and the . The department has strong ties to other research units at UT Austin including the School of Engineering School of Pharmacy Department of Computer Science Oden Institute for Computational Engineering & Sciences and Dell Medical School. This position offers excellent start-up funds salary and laboratory space in a dynamic and highly interactive research environment in the vibrant city of Austin. Applicants will also be encouraged to apply for support from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas ( CPRIT ).
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline and have an outstanding record of scientific ability as demonstrated by a strong publication record.
