Thriving Texas Families Program Coordinator

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Director of Prevention and Advancement

Position Overview

Family Support Services is seeking an organized, supportive, and people-centered Program Coordinator to help lead the successful delivery of our Thriving Texas Families programs.

This position supports and guides a team of 2 CARE Coordinators as they provide parenting education, mental health support, family engagement activities, and connections to community resources. Working closely with the Director of Prevention and Advancement, the Program Coordinator helps ensure staff members have the training, direction, and resources necessary to serve families effectively.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys developing staff, improving programs, tracking results, and creating an environment where both employees and families feel supported. This position also helps ensure that program services, documentation, spending, and reporting remain consistent with organizational expectations and funding requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise and support CARE Coordinators providing regular guidance, coaching, and mentorship to strengthen the delivery of parenting education, mental health support, and family services.
• Help coordinate staff onboarding, training, and professional development so team members understand current program requirements, service standards, and recognized best practices.
• Facilitate staff meetings, training sessions, and collaborative discussions that strengthen communication and keep the team connected to program goals.
• Oversee the day-to-day implementation of Bright Course, Mothers and Babies, Parent Cafés, Moms Circles, and other group-based services.
• Ensure facilitators have the materials, information, and ongoing support needed to deliver programs effectively and consistently.
• Monitor program activities, staff performance, service quality, and family outcomes. Identify areas where additional guidance, training, or resources may be needed.
• Assist staff with accurate data collection, documentation, and reporting in accordance with state, federal, funding, and organizational requirements.
• Support budget monitoring by tracking program needs and helping ensure expenditures remain within approved limits.
• Work with staff to identify needs related to educational materials, family resources, program supplies, and professional training.
• Maintain clear communication among programs and teams, ensuring employees receive timely information about program updates, available resources, and procedural changes.
• Serve as a reliable point of contact for staff members and participating families, helping questions and concerns reach the appropriate person quickly.
• Review the effectiveness of program activities and provide the Director of Prevention and Advancement with feedback and recommendations for improving services.
• Ensure that client services, records, and staff practices meet all confidentiality and privacy requirements.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records related to client participation, progress, referrals, and program activities.
• Build collaborative relationships with community partners and other Family Support Services divisions to strengthen referrals, share resources, and improve services for families.
• Help coordinate workshops, family engagement activities, resource fairs, and other program events, ensuring that logistics are organized and activities support the goals of the program.
• Gather program data, compile performance measures, and assist with the preparation of required reports and outcome summaries.
• Perform other program-related duties as assigned in support of the Education Division and the families it serves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in program coordination or management, preferably within family support services, early childhood education, parenting education, or a related setting.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, coaching, or supporting employees.
• Experience providing staff training, facilitating professional development, and monitoring performance.
• Knowledge of early childhood development, parenting education, family support, and mental health services.
• Understanding of grant-funded programs, compliance requirements, documentation standards, and performance reporting.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with families, employees, community organizations, and service providers.
• Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and life experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use case management and program data systems.
