Personnel Liaison - Public Rights Division

Job Description and Duties

If so, the Public Rights Division (PRD) Executive Unit within the Department of Justice (DOJ) is looking for you. We are seeking a strong analyst and motivated self-starter to support the personnel needs of twelve sub-sections handling significant areas of law. The most qualified candidate for this position possesses excellent communication and organizational skills and understands the daily impact that dependable human resource (HR) representatives have on the workforce.

As a Personnel Liaison (PL), you will collaborate with the DOJ’s Division of Administrative Support (DAS) on behalf of PRD's legal and professional staff, including providing consultative and technical support to division management on hiring and various personnel matters. Duties include but are not limited to: researching, interpreting, and advising on best hiring practices, civil service statutes, and regulations while ensuring compliance with the California Department of Human Resources’ and DOJ Office of Human Resources’ (OHR) regulations and policies. You will also provide analyses and recommendations on justification packages, classification and pay matters, position control and funding inquiries, and will provide options and solutions to various levels of management and OHR. You will be responsible for maintaining detailed and accurate records, including organizational charts, historical data, and you will collaborate with other DOJ units on a vast array of appointment and personnel functions. As a member of the Executive Unit, you will have the opportunity to think strategically and proactively about the division's workload while carrying out critical executive support functions.

Working Conditions

This position requires residency in the State of California. It is presently eligible for partial telework; however, Executive Unit employees are expected to abide by all telework rules and policies, including performing all essential functions and reporting to the Sacramento office as needed/required.

• Ability to provide excellent customer service on a daily basis
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe, SharePoint, and FileMaker Pro
