Licensed Vocational Nurse
As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of both clinical and operational tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication, supporting both the healthcare provider and patients. In addition, you will assist the Operations leadership with day-to-day support of onsite health clinics, including, but not limited to: client communication and facilitation and coordination of clinical supplies and lab services. Your dedication to completing all activities with utmost accuracy, efficiency, and a commitment to high-quality standards will contribute significantly to our mission of delivering exceptional patient care and service excellence.
Services are based on a 4 day/week schedule at 8 hours/day, during normal business hours, or other mutually agreed schedule. This project is anticipated to be roughly 32 hours per week, and is paid on an hourly basis. Standard hours will be 6:00 AM -2:30 PM.
Essential Job Duties:
- Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring to inquiries.
- Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
- Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; drawing blood; preparing patients for x-rays; taking electrocardiograms; removing sutures; changing dressings.
- Conducting occupational health tests, including Audiometry, Spirometry, and fit testing. Be able to assist in the training of new staff members in conducting these tests.
- Assist providers with workers' compensation injuries, administer first aid, and conduct drug screening and alcohol collection.
- Maintain accurate records of all collections.
- Assist in the coordination of patient care, management of referrals, scheduling appointments and coordinating services with other healthcare providers.
- Communication with clients to service needs and requests. Assist with the investigation and resolution of complaints.
- Communicate test results to patients and healthcare providers as directed.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and proper storage of PHI.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Coordinate clinic logistics and equipment setup and breakdown at various work sites; travel to different work sites as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating motivation, reliability, organization, and punctuality.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- Valid and current Vocational Nurse license in the state of practice.
Physical Demands:
The position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time to perform various tasks. It also involves lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Good dexterity and hand-eye coordination is essential for handling equipment and performing precise tasks. The role may involve repetitive tasks, requiring the candidate to have the physical capability to carry them out effectively. Additionally, good visual acuity is necessary for reading and accurately recording information. The candidate should be able to bend, kneel, and reach to access and handle materials and equipment. Excellent mobility is needed to move around the clinic and perform examinations efficiently. The role may occasionally require working in confined spaces, which the candidate should be comfortable with.
Education, Skills and Qualifications:
Candidate is required to have successfully completed vocational nurse coursework from an accredited program and must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Previous experience in an occupational healthcare setting is preferred. Knowledge and experience with electronic medical record systems is preferred. Must have reliable transportation.
