The Patient Access Representative is the first person that our patients and caregivers will have the opportunity to interact. This position provides support to our patients as they are experiencing a life changing event. The support is accomplished by working with the caregiver to schedule appointments, perform pre-registration and registration of new and existing patients, and providing patients with information regarding access to additional external financial resources. In this position, you will have the opportunity to support our patients with issues dealing with scheduling and questions for the provider(s). In addition, you will maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory agencies by obtaining various consents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Answer incoming calls into the main operator line of the facility
• Maintains confidentiality with each interaction with patients, families, Shriners, staff and visitors.
• Reports any problems with appointments to the Rehabilitation Manager for resolution. Relays patient related phone calls to the Rehabilitation Manager and/or Patient Access Staff for disposition.
• Schedules, reschedules, or cancels patient appointments carefully, accurately, and collaboratively with appropriate staff. Educated and proficient in use of SHCIS, hospital electronic medical record for retrieval of patient information and scheduling of outpatient visits.
• Displays agreement with hospital's family-centered care philosophy and assists in establishing a positive image for SHCC.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance to all safety and emergency procedures per the hospital policy and procedure manuals.
• Verifies insurance coverage for all patients receiving services

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)
• 3+ years' experience in patient access, scheduling, registration or customer service in a healthcare environment

The pay range for this position is $21.63 - $30.54/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
