Lead Audio Technician Audio Engineer Full‑Time Position We are looking for our next Lead Audio Technician to join our Audio Services team. The main objective of this role is to ensure leadership and well‑functioning of department operations and assist the Head of Department. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental managers policies, practices, and procedures. Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of employees, including daily scheduling. Assist the Head of Department and the department manager in budgets and forecasting, and support procurement and receiving as needed. Run monitors, track other audio department cue tracks, and operate and troubleshoot audio, RF, video and communications equipment for performances, artist training, and maintenance. Inspect and maintain audio archives, RF, video and communications equipment; update maintenance and inspection records as directed. Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation. Assist other departments to run performances and rehearsals as needed. Develop thorough knowledge of all audio department equipment specific to the production and operate equipment safely. Manage and complete projects, including installation of new audio show elements. Work with department management staff to support their needs during rehearsals, trainings and performances. Ensure all departmental designs, equipment, systems, functions, procedures, show tracks, maintenance and inspection logs, special projects, etc., are properly documented. Collaborate with the Head of Department to establish and maintain training and backup plans to ensure continuity of performance operations in the event of unexpected system failure. Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance routines and inspections – particularly life safety and show critical; ensure that these routines and inspections are appropriately documented. Adhere to and promote all OSHA regulations as they pertain to safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training. Contribute to a safe and positive working environment by adhering to and following Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods. Assist other departments when necessary for cross‑departmental support. Complete all other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a similar field is a plus. At least three years of previous experience as a professional Audio Technician in a large‑scale production or related environment; previous leadership experience is an asset. Working knowledge of MIDI, digital audio and Microsoft applications. Proficiency in operating audio, RF, video and communications equipment; electronics training and audio equipment repair skills are an asset. In-depth knowledge of leading‑edge sound technology. Operational knowledge of computer networking protocols and hardware interconnection. Operational knowledge of computer‑based real‑time analysis audio systems. Experience in LCS Cue Station programming and AutoCAD. Working knowledge of Pro Tools. 30‑hour OSHA course completion card required. Project management experience. High School Diploma or GED required. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job—including crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting (sometimes for extended periods) and lifting at least 50 lbs unassisted—and the full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.
