The Pet Stylist prioritizes safety, comfort and well‑being of pets in our care and delivers high customer satisfaction to pet parents. Additional tasks may be assigned by the Grooming Salon Leader, Solutions Manager, or Store General Manager. This is a growth opportunity for groomers with proven technical experience. Essential Job Functions Under limited supervision, perform grooming services (bath, dry, brush, haircut, nail trim, ear cleaning, gland cleaning) per pet parent instructions and company policies. Operate and maintain grooming instruments (clippers, blades, shears, brushes, dryers). Prioritize pet safety and well‑being; monitor for discomfort or injury and report concerns. Evaluate individual pet needs (coat type, skin condition, temperament). Interact professionally with pet parents, provide customer service, address grooming inquiries, offer recommendations, and resolve questions. Educate pet parents on maintenance and home‑care products to promote overall well‑being. Maintain clean and safe grooming area; disinfect and sanitize tools, perform daily and weekly cleaning, and follow Petco hygiene policies. Apply grooming policies and standards to ensure safety, quality, and consistency; maintain standards in salon. Train, support, and supervise entry‑level trainees as needed. Education & Experience Completion of Pet Stylist Apprentice program or prior professional groomer experience. High‑school diploma or GED, preferred. Independent judgment and problem‑solving ability in moderate complexity situations. Results‑driven commitment to productivity and ownership of role. Attention to detail for accurate grooming services. Passion for animals and desire to pursue a career in grooming. Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues, and behaviors. Proficiency in breed‑specific cuts and styling techniques. Strong verbal and written communication skills for pet parent and team interactions. Capacity to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy. Availability for weekend, evening, and holiday work as required by the grooming schedule. Work Environment Work is conducted indoors in a grooming salon. The role involves bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Exposure to heights (using two‑step ladder or other tools) may be required.
