Job Title: EHS Specialist Location: 5401 N. Market Street, Champaign, IL 61822 Company: Stefanini Group Total Regular Hours: 40.00 per week Travel: Approximately 50% onsite; up to 25% outside region Schedule: 8:00 AM to 04:30 PM; 30 Minutes Lunch; Monday–Friday Purpose Of The Job The role provides Environmental, Health, and Safety support for multiple assigned locations, including farm, laboratory, manufacturing, seed production, and remote operations. It ensures that EHS programs are implemented and maintained in compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate requirements. It supports consistency in EHS program execution across assigned locations and drives continuous improvement in EHS performance, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and audit readiness. It partners with site leadership and regional EHS stakeholders to support operational accountability for EHS, strengthen incident prevention, and ensure effective implementation of the North America EHS management system. The role reports to the Regional EHS Manager and supports leaders and employees across multiple locations through strong collaboration, technical expertise, and influence without direct authority. Responsibilities Provide EHS regulatory and technical expertise, including OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local requirements. Support the development, implementation, and periodic review of EHS programs and policies. Align site-based programs with corporate requirements and standards. Investigate incidents and conduct root cause analysis. Deliver EHS training in person and online. Develop and review SOPs and other compliance documentation. Conduct environmental and safety inspections, audits, and corrective action follow‑up. Manage multi‑site compliance and prioritize EHS risks across multiple locations. Interact with various levels of management, staff, community representatives, elected officials, NGOs, and regulatory agencies. Participate in capital project EHS reviews. Travel approximately 50% of the time for onsite support; up to 25% of that may be outside the region. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or a related technical field is preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience supporting EHS programs, with a strong background in implementing and reviewing EHS initiatives. Ability to identify, assess, and prioritize EHS risks across multiple locations. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence leadership and staff without direct authority. Self‑starter who can work independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and locations. Experience with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant state and local regulations. Experience with EHS training, SOP development, inspections, audits, and documentation compliance. Additional Experience (Preferred) Experience working in farms, chemical manufacturing, seed production, or laboratory environments. Knowledge of process safety and environmental compliance programs. Biological safety experience, BSL1/2. Experience with Responsible Care requirements. Experience with industrial hygiene sampling and reporting. Experience completing annual environmental reports.
