MRI Technologist - Weekender Days

Job Information Location: Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital (GJSH) Shift: Days (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Worker Type: Regular Exemption Status: No Job Summary Up to $25,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible applicants! Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists are responsible for the use of radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. They perform MRI scans, acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis under the direction of a licensed practitioner. Job Duties Ensure correct order is obtained, patient properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and documented while respecting confidentiality. Utilize appropriate imaging protocol, optimize technical factors, maximize patient safety, and apply ALARA principles. Prepare and administer medications through vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluate images for proper positioning, acceptable technical quality, and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post‑processing if applicable. Educate and monitor students and other health care providers. Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to minimize risk to patient, self, and others. Assist the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures. Perform MRI procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Select appropriate pulse sequences based on established protocols and data acquisition parameters. Maintain MRI safety knowledge and participate in MRI safety implant investigation and approval. Position Details One of the following certifications is required upon hire: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) New graduates must obtain ARRT‑R, ARRT‑MR, NMTCB, or ARMRIT registry prior to the first day of employment. Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months. Education Graduate from a Specialty Training Program‑Radiologic Technology (Required). Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Preferred). Experience Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred).
