Project Engineer

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

\n
• The Project Engineer will coordinate between production, quality, purchasing, and design engineering with configuration management, bid and proposals, new design work, and root cause investigations.
\n
• Conduct daily stand-up meetings with liaison engineers at remote sites to facilitate Engineering Change Request processing. Help remove barriers, escalate issues, and coordinate support as needed.
\n
• Responsible of the hiring, onboarding, training, and performance improvement of the project engineering group members.
\n
• Provide weekly status updates to project teams of resolved issues, outstanding issues, and associated risks.
\n
• Record and review metrics monthly with management team and recommend improvements.
\n
• Track reasons for engineering changes, analyze data for trends, and provide corrective actions.
\n
• Approve deviation requests from production and ensure compliance to requirements.
\n
• Create Engineering Change Proposals to be submitted to customers for design improvements, value added changes, and obsolescence resolutions.
\n
• Lead the system design and defining all mission system requirements through the design phase and navigate the solution through to production and implementation.
\n
• System life-cycle activities – including System Requirements Review (SRR), System Design Review (SDR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Detailed/Critical Design Review (DDR/CDR).
\n
• Development of engineering deliverables in accordance with engineering processes, ensuring safe, fit for purpose engineering deliverables, and presenting material associated with the above gate reviews.
\n
• Document product configuration effectivity on drawings and assignment logs. Coordinate cut in dates with purchasing and production.
\n
• Plan, monitor, and adjust schedule and resources for new design implementation to meet customer needs.
\n
• Create and submit recurring customer deliverables as needed.
\n
• Coordinate the release of Engineering Change Notifications per company policy.
\n
• Write test plans, perform tests, document results, and train quality personnel to conduct tests.
\n
• Partner with quality to perform root cause investigations for product non-compliances.
\n
• Reviews designs of engineers and designers to ensure they are in accordance with company standards, customer specifications, and terms of the contract.
\n
• Collaborate with engineering to produce system BOMs for CFRs (Condition Found Reports) and other repetitive modifications and discrete orders.
\n
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department by creating work instructions for best practices for reviewing, metadata inputting, establishing procedures/processes as well as mentoring/training staff.
\n
• Independent worker who contributes to moderately complex analysis and designs.
\n

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

\n
• BS degree preferred in Engineering or similar.
\n
• Minimum 10 years of project engineering experience for government projects.
\n
• Familiarity with, and drives, basic system and digital engineering principles.
\n
• Familiarity with autonomy, automation, and modular open systems architecture concepts and architectures.
\n
• Automation - MS Office, BC Dynamics, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDM, PLM, MRP, Sharepoint, and Access.
\n
• Autonomy - The ability to work unsupervised efficiently and effectively.
\n
• Oral & Written Comprehension & Expression - Candidate must have excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, conflict management, and critical thinking skills.
\n
• Boat mechanical and electrical knowledge to include fuel, cooling, steering, navigation, and propulsion systems.
\n
• Attention to detail and ability to work on complex configurations.
\n
• Design - Experience complying to ASME and ANSI drafting standards.
\n
• Compliance to AS9100 and Mil-STD-973.
\n
