We are looking for a Municipal Engineer to join our team in Allentown. In this role, you will partner with municipalities on a variety of assignments, including subdivision and land development reviews, roadway and stormwater improvements, sanitary sewer projects, public facilities, grant-funded initiatives, and long-range capital planning. Position DetailsFull-time position based out of our Allentown officeMonday through Friday scheduleFlexibility in work schedules, with limited remote work opportunities based on position, project and team needsPaid overtimeLocal travel for project sites and municipal meetings, including occasional evening meetings Why Join KCE?Local company with more than 50 years of experience serving our communitiesWork-life balance is a core value at KCECompetitive hourly pay based on experience, plus paid overtimeOpportunities to take on meaningful work and greater responsibilityFlexible schedules, remote work possibilities, and a casual, down-to-earth work environmentComprehensive medical plan options, including HDHP/HSA and traditional plansEmployer-paid life and disability insurance with voluntary life optionsDental and vision coverage401(k) with company match, including Traditional and Roth optionsPaid vacation, sick days, and nine paid holidaysPaid parental leaveFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Tuition Reimbursement ProgramCompany events and team-building activitiesWhat You Will DoAs a Municipal Engineer on our team, you will provide practical, responsive engineering support while helping municipal clients plan improvements, review development activity, and serve their communities.Review subdivision and land development plans for compliance with municipal ordinances and the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.Plan, design, and manage public improvement projects involving roadways, stormwater systems, sanitary sewers, recreational facilities, and other municipal infrastructure.Conduct field evaluations and prepare engineering reports, recommendations, and presentations for municipal governing bodies.Prepare bid documents, construction cost estimates, technical specifications, and permit applications.Coordinate with municipal staff, developers, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies throughout project planning, review, approval, and construction.Provide technical guidance on zoning, stormwater management, environmental requirements, infrastructure planning, and related municipal matters.Attend and present at municipal meetings, public meetings, and project coordination meetings.Assist municipalities with grant applications, funding strategies, and long-range capital improvement planning.Support construction administration, field inspections, and resolution of project issues as assigned.Mentor junior staff and contribute to the quality and responsiveness of the municipal engineering team. What You BringWe are looking for someone who combines municipal engineering experience with sound judgment, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical audiences.Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.Five or more years of relevant civil engineering or site design experience, including at least three years in municipal engineering.Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.Strong working knowledge of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Pennsylvania DEP regulations, and other applicable state and federal requirements.Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate project documentation.Strong written, verbal, and public presentation skills.Sound judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative, service-oriented mindset.Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for project and municipal meetings.
