Staff Physician (Internal/Family Medicine)

divh2Staff Physician/h2pResponsible for the delivery of patient-centered, team-based care that falls within the allowable scope of practice. This includes working collaboratively with mid-level providers, registered nurses and medical assistants to provide physical and psychosocial assessments, diagnosis and management of health and illness needs. The primary responsibility of the Staff Physician is direct patient care, both acute and chronic. The Staff Physician will also assist the Chief Medical Officer in supervision of and consultation of the nurse practitioners, as designated./ppEnsure that the core values of Camino Health Center dignity, excellence, service and justice are carried out within daily tasks./ph3Essential Function/h3pstrongClinical Quality/strong/ppProvide high-quality, patient-centered and values-based primary medical care./ppEffectively use huddles, care gap reports, and integration work to meet treatment and preventative care measures./ppProvide direct education to patients regarding their medical conditions and treatment options./ppAppropriate and complete referrals to specialty care as needed./ppPrescribe and/or dispense medications as appropriate./ppEfficiently and timely manage and respond to requests for medication refills, document completion, patient messages and general questions./ppCollaborate with behavioral health, dental, optometry and other health care team members as appropriate for integration, consultation, referral and follow-up./ppAssist the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director in program development, implementation and evaluation as necessary./ppActive participation in the health centers quality assurance and peer-review programs./ppCooperate in investigations, patient grievances and requests from payers./ppstrongPatient Experience/strong/ppProvide patient care services in the spirit of the health centers core values. Convey empathic behavior and communication with patients and encourage all members of the care team to do so as well./ppDeliver services to the patients satisfaction as measured by the Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey./ppLead team in efforts to increase patient satisfaction survey completion rate./ppCollaborate with the medical management team to investigate, respond and improve processes related to patient grievances received from payers, social media, and comment boxes/We Care emails./ppCollaborate with the medical management team to improve workflows, cycle times and the overall patient experience./ppstrongAccess/Utilization/strong/ppProvide primary medical care services in accordance with health center policies and board approved privileging./ppProvide coverage to the health centers urgent care schedules./ppPractice in an efficient and cost effective manner; appropriately order labs and tests./ppProvide on-call coverage for after-hours care in accordance with health center protocols./ppLead the care team in problem solving to see late arriving patients and patients with urgent needs./ppCollaborate with the medical management team to maximize patient appointment access./ppstrongSupervision of Clinical Staff/Leadership/strong/ppAssist mid-level health care providers in the assessment and treatment of patients as necessary. If appropriate, assume responsibility for the clinical situation./ppSupervision of nursing staff in direct patient care, including the procurement of lab specimens and administration of injectable medications./ppAssume a leadership role with the care team. Promote positive interactions within the team and engages members to achieve quality, patient experience and access goals./ppCollaborate with the medical management team to develop support staff to their highest potential./ppActive participation in department and clinic-wide meetings/trainings./ppAttend in-services and conferences to continue professional growth and development./ppstrongDocumentation/strong/ppComplete clear and defensible documentation of patient visits and/or telephone encounters./ppAppropriate and accurate code encounters./ppClose encounters in accordance with health center protocols./ppProvide medication and document queue coverage for colleagues in accordance with health center protocols./ppstrongMinimum Position Qualifications:/strong/pullistrongEducation:/strong Doctor of Medicine Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree/lilistrongExperience / Training:/strong A minimum of two years of experience in a primary care setting/lilistrongLicense / Certification:/strong Board certified primary care physician; valid and current California Medical license, DEA number and BLS certification/li/ulpstrongPreferred Position Qualifications:/strong/pullistrongExperience / Training:/strong Prior experience in a community health center; bilingual (English/Spanish)/li/ul/div
