Medical Director, Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon Children's Heart Surgery program at AdventHealth for Children, Orlando, Florida Description Overview AdventHealth for Children is seeking a dynamic, energetic Pediatric Cardiac Surgery leader to join our team at the Walt Disney Pavilion in Orlando, Florida. The new Medical Director will partner with our cardiac surgeons to continue the growth and development of our vibrant, comprehensive pediatric open-heart program in coordination with one of the largest hospital networks in the country. The new surgeon would work collaboratively with our dedicated peds cardiology and peds cardiac ICU teams. AdventHealth has a statewide network of more than 30 hospitals, supported by an extensive outreach and transport system. Our network includes multiple outpatient locations with multidisciplinary pediatric services, and our system delivers more than 20,000 babies annually. Our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, including a 22 bed PICU, 15 bed Cardiac ICU, a 102 bed NICU, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system. We started our comprehensive pediatric open-heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes. We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program, and we increased Orlando area NICU beds to 150 total in 2017. Job Requirements Senior level surgeon experience is preferred Board Certification or Eligibility by the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Thoracic Surgery, with a focus on Congenital Cardiac Surgery Documented success as an independent pediatric cardiac surgeon in all domains of clinical pediatric cardiac surgery including complex neonatal cardiac surgery and surgery for adults with congenital heart disease. Significant interest and capability in pre and post-operative care. Active FL medical license, or ability to obtain Demonstrable skills ins surgical judgment, management and decision-making Pediatric Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation specialist with UNOS certification preferred, but not required "Team player" mentality.
