Registered Nurse (RN)

SEAL Team Multi‑Site Float: Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), now proudly part of Jefferson Health. The S.E.A.L. (Service, Excellence, Advocacy and Leadership) float team provides RN coverage for Medical Surgical / Telemetry, Progressive Care / Critical Care, and Emergency Department across the Lehigh Valley Health Network. Summary Provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies and procedures. Directs and manages the care of designated patients. Utilizes effective and appropriate communication styles. Assists in maintaining a safe work environment and maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served. Job Duties Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for designated patients. Recognize the need for and initiate collaboration/communication with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, and take actions to proactively resolve patient needs, synthesizing available data to make decisions that optimize patient outcomes based on ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics. Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety, in accordance with established policies and procedures, utilizing evidence‑based practice. Participate in evidence‑based practice and research projects as applicable. Use effective and appropriate verbal and non‑verbal communication styles with patients, significant others, visitors, staff, and professional colleagues. Coordinate and provide patient and family education throughout treatment course to facilitate an effective transition of care. Act as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals and objectives. Participate in all phases of the performance improvement process, including organizational and unit‑based patient experience goals. Perform validated technical skills based upon clinical specialty and unit practice. Utilize technology and incorporate it to optimize alternative modes of care delivery. Demonstrate leadership and team building skills, including teaching and mentoring new colleagues and department interns, delegating based on team member skills and patient acuity, and providing input for performance appraisals of care delivery team members. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of accredited Nursing program. Knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice. Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care. Successful completion of additional orientation programs related to specialty. Attainment and maintenance of unit‑specific competencies. Basic computer skills. BLS – Basic Life Support (AHA) upon hire. RN – Licensed Registered Nurse PA, State of Pennsylvania upon hire. 2 years relevant RN experience. BLS, ACLS certifications. Stroke certification. Completion of a dysrhythmia course. Completion of critical care course such as ECCO or having CCRN certification. Completed Trauma course or TNCC certification. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Nursing. Travel experience highly preferred. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40‑50 lbs. Examples: push/pull patients on bed or stretcher (requires 29 lbs push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of the patient’s weight. Frequent to continuous standing and walking, with patient transporters walking 8‑10 miles per shift. May be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR.
