Brown & Brown is seeking an Assistant Account Executive to join our employee benefits consulting team in downtown Seattle, WA!

This is not a typical assistant role. You’ll be joining a boutique, high-performing employee benefits team that operates with a consultative approach, serving large, complex, self-funded clients. Our Seattle practice maintains a close-knit, entrepreneurial culture with a focus on strategic advisory work — think board of trustees presentations, legislative impact briefings, and custom benefits analysis, not transactional certificate processing.

You’ll work alongside experienced Account Executives to manage and service a portfolio of jumbo group clients across diverse industries. How You Will Contribute

• Work closely with Account Executives to manage and service a portfolio of large, self-funded employee benefits clients, serving as a key point of contact for client stakeholders including executive leadership and boards of trustees
• Prepare and deliver polished client-facing presentations on topics including benefits strategy, plan performance, legislative and regulatory changes, compliance updates, and market trends
• Develop quarterly reports, board presentations, and strategic recommendations tailored to each client’s unique needs and industry
• Evaluate and recommend insurance solutions, plan design alternatives, and cost-management strategies for complex, self-funded programs
• Manage the renewal process for health and life insurance coverages, coordinating carrier communications, proposal development, and implementation
• Resolve escalated employee enrollment and claims issues, acting as a liaison between clients, carriers, and internal teams
• Ensure all renewal, sales, and compliance documentation is accurately maintained in the agency management system
• Support new business presentations and client onboarding, including carrier change implementations, contract reviews, and Summary Plan Description (SPD) verification
• Stay current on industry developments, marketplace trends, and legislative changes — particularly Washington State benefits legislation — and translate those changes into actionable client guidance
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with carrier partners, clients, and internal team members to support a seamless, high-touch service experience

Skills & Experience to Be Successful

• Employee benefits experience in a brokerage, consulting, TPA, carrier, or corporate HR/benefits environment, with exposure to large group or self-funded plans
• Active Life & Health insurance license for required states (required)
• Strong presentation and communication skills — you’ll be preparing materials for and presenting to senior client stakeholders
• Proficiency in PowerPoint (strong), Excel (strong), CRM systems, and Canva or similar design tools for client-ready deliverables
• Knowledge of insurance coverages, contracts, and state regulations, particularly Washington State benefits legislation
• BAM agency management system experience preferred, or demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly
• Exceptional client service orientation and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple complex accounts simultaneously
• Professional designation specific to employee benefits (CEBS, GBA, or similar) preferred but not required
• A team player who thrives in a small, collaborative, high-performance environment
