Job Description

What you will do: Perform laboratory tests that require specialized knowledge, training, and judgment Conduct complete chemical analysis (e.g., titrimetric, spectrometric, electrometric, inductively coupled plasma, chromatographic) on gasses, water, and organic/inorganic matter utilizing computerized laboratory equipment Utilize a laboratory information management system to accurately document sample information and laboratory test results Perform quality control functions as described in protocols on assigned tests Implement analytical procedures & methodologies to ensure compliance with federal & state requirements Monitor equipment to evaluate operating efficiency & to diagnose malfunctions Perform routine maintenance and maintain laboratory equipment & instruments Track & order laboratory equipment & supplies as needed Assist in coordination of gas sampling programs Use computer to input & process test data Calibrate & maintain records on testing equipment Starting hourly pay of $28.76/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 7.5 years of service, with an end salary of $38.01/hr. There may also be cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied. Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service. Qualifications

42 mos. pertinent laboratory experience commensurate with job duties to be performed as outlined per approved position description on file. -Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in a biological, chemical, natural or physical science AND 12 mos. pertinent laboratory experience commensurate with job duties to be performed as outlined per approved position description on file. -Or completion of Master of Science core program in a biological, chemical, natural or physical science. -Or 12 mos. exp. as Laboratory Scientist 1, 83291. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
