Experienced Mig Welder

Join a hands-on manufacturing team where precision, quality, and safety are essential. This role is ideal for an experienced MIG Welder who enjoys working with mechanical components, interpreting blueprints, assembling parts, and producing quality weldments in a fast-paced shop environment. As a Welder, you will be responsible for assembling and welding components used to build equipment while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, attendance, and safety.

Duties

• Read and interpret information from blueprints, technical manuals, and other documents.
• Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly.
• Use hand and air-powered tools, including wrenches, torque wrenches, impact wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and similar equipment.
• Move and position parts manually or with a hoist. Parts typically weigh up to 25 pounds and may weigh as much as 50 pounds.
• Use a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments.
• Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
• Remove components from fixtures, clean and inspect completed weldments, and identify and correct errors or deficiencies.
• Maintain positive working relationships with customers, clients, supervisors, and co-workers through professional behavior and communication.
• Meet or exceed expectations for productivity, quality, attendance, and safety.
• Follow all safety guidelines and work in a safe manner.

Skills and Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Skilled in reading a tape measure.
• Appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and hammers.
• Appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and assess, evaluate, and take appropriate action in a given situation.
• Strong self-motivation and a willingness to learn new skills.
• Reliable attendance and a strong commitment to quality.
• Cooperative, professional, and cordial approach when working with others.
• Ability to handle items weighing over 50 pounds, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.

Education & Experience

• Approximately 3 years of appropriate MIG welding experience or completion of a formal welding training program or certificate.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing plant environment that is indoors and not climate-controlled.
• Variable temperatures and humidity, including relatively high temperatures.
• Exposure to noise, dirt, and typical manufacturing plant conditions.
• Physical hazards may include powered vehicles, pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, compressed air power supplies, and material handling.
• Exposure to hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, paint, and fuels.
• Workdays may be up to 10 hours, with overtime as necessary.
