Required Related Experience A minimum of three years of direct experience as a special education teacher serving school-aged students with Learning and Behavior Disorders ( LBD ) in K-12 educational settings in the United States Demonstrated commitment to innovative, inclusive educational practices for students with disabilities Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with K-12 partners in education Demonstrated use of effective, evidence-based practices in school settings Required License/Registration/Certification n/a Job Summary The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education ( EDSCE ) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Special Education – Learning and Behavior Disorders ( LBD ). This faculty member will provide expertise in support of the LBD program across elementary and secondary school levels. The position is Regular Title Series, Tenure Eligible. This is a 9-month appointment, effective August 16, 2027. Responsibilities include the following: Maintain a productive research agenda, including applying for external funding; Teach two courses each semester (fall and spring), particularly coursework and fieldwork supervision within our undergraduate program; Advise current and incoming students; Engage with K-12 and university faculty in program planning, implementation, and evaluation; Serve on masters and doctoral committees; and Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession. The Distribution of Effort ( DOE ) for this position is approximately:

• 50% Instruction (12 credit hours each academic year),
• 30% Research, and
• 20% Service (service to the college, department, institution, and the profession).

They should have strong instructional and assessment skills, the ability to teach and supervise teacher candidates, along with excellent collaboration and communication abilities to foster an inclusive learning environment.
