Job Description

The Service Technician installs, maintains, and repairs beverage and beverage-related equipment, including carbonated and non‑carbonated dispensers, fountain beverage systems, and juice dispensers. This role works with minimal supervision, splitting time between customer sites and the service center to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The position includes the use of a company-provided vehicle, uniforms, tools, cell phone, tablet, and gas card.

Niche skillset, so prior experience is not required. Any sort of prior experience doing hands on maintenance/service work on machines, equipment, cars, etc. is a fantastic baseline.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair beverage and restaurant equipment, including carbonated and non‑carbonated dispensers, fountain beverage equipment, ice makers, and juice dispensers.
• Diagnose equipment issues at customer sites, determine the cause of malfunctions, and decide whether repairs can be completed on-site or require shop service.
• Perform preventive maintenance and installations according to training and certification standards, meeting Grade Level 1 competency requirements.
• Receive dispatched service calls and respond promptly based on the assigned estimated time of arrival.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and operational problems, complete necessary repairs, and verify equipment performance after service.
• Check product quality by inspecting syrup levels, changing out flavors, cleaning around machines, and ensuring proper operation of dispensing systems.
• Maintain accurate inventory and upkeep of parts, tools, and the company vehicle, ensuring all equipment is in good working condition.
• Review service orders and completed work with the supervisor, and keep the supervisor informed of customer concerns, needs, and potential up‑selling opportunities.
• Document all work performed, update service records accurately, and close out all activities upon completion of each job.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and co‑workers to explain issues, repairs, and equipment status.
• Retrieve parts and tools from the warehouse when needed and coordinate with management if machines must be transported to the shop for repair.
• Perform repair work at the headquarters shop when not on client sites, including bench repairs and equipment testing.
• Assist management and warehouse staff with general organization duties, including cleaning, organizing, rotating product, and supporting shipping and receiving of equipment, parts, and product.
• Perform assigned general warehouse tasks and other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment.
• Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for mechanical repair and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to troubleshoot machines and mechanical systems, including identifying root causes of equipment failures.
• Capability to perform machine maintenance, repair, and installation activities safely and efficiently.
• Self-motivation and the ability to stay on task with minimal to no supervision.
• Ability to maintain strong customer relations, interpersonal relationships, and effective team collaboration.
• Excellent organization and time management skills to handle multiple service calls and tasks.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with customers, supervisors, and team members.
• Comfort with performing basic mathematical functions relevant to service and maintenance work.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, whether through work experience, technical training, or hands-on practice.
• Valid driver’s license, with the ability and willingness to drive more than 40% of the time.
• Ability and commitment to wear steel-toed shoes as part of required safety attire.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Graduate of a technical or vocational school, preferred.
• Experience repairing machinery, equipment, or vehicles, whether professionally or as a hobby.
• Experience in mechanical repair, maintenance, or installation work in any industry.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical issues in field service or shop environments.
• Comfort driving a company vehicle for local and regional service calls.
• Ability to adapt quickly, learn new equipment types, and follow technical instructions and training.
• Strong attention to detail in documenting work performed and maintaining accurate service records.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse and inside various client buildings, which may include a range of temperatures and conditions. Service Technicians primarily drive a company-provided van to customer locations and between the service center and warehouse. Work includes time in the field at client sites, performing on-site diagnostics and repairs, as well as time at headquarters performing shop repairs and assisting with warehouse organization. The position requires wearing steel-toed shoes and uniforms provided by the company, and involves regular use of tools, equipment, and a tablet or cell phone to receive and complete service calls.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Independence, MO.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Independence,MO.
