Office Chief, Senior Job Location: 250 N 17th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85007 Salary $93,500 Grade 25 Job Summary This position is for Current Internal ADHS Applicants only. Responsibilities Oversee the Office of Support Services and Operations. Establish policies, plan, coordinate, manage, and evaluate major program activities; prepare budgets, approve purchases, and manage staff and equipment. Lead program planning and implementation; recommend process or service improvements; solve unique and complex problems that impact the organization; contribute to functional strategy; advise the organization. Lead project teams to achieve milestones and objectives; provide expert testimony; approve reports. Perform travel as required, including meetings at alternate locations and travel in or out of state. Organize, plan, and direct all activities within the Office of Support Services and Operations; ensure effective coordination across areas. Oversee internal and external outreach activities and interactions with partners; monitor and report on all program aspects. Oversee budget and/or grants for programs; conduct performance reviews of staff; manage, lead, and hire staff. Analyze and oversee feedback from clients; generate and present reports on key performance indicators. Receive and answer inquiries about program issues; resolve complaints both internal and external. Provide verbal and written consultation to ADHS, other governmental agencies, and industry concerning technical issues and interpretation of rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned related to the position. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of federal regulations and Arizona Revised Statutes related to laboratory testing, general laboratory procedures, laboratory management and operational concepts, budget management, specialized laboratory procedures, laboratory safety precautions for infectious agents and hazardous materials, performance management, continuous quality improvement, and Lean methodologies. Skill in reviewing professional literature; high level of oral and written communication; analytical review; interpersonal relationships; active listening; organization, evaluation, repetition, education, and training. Skill in planning and organizing policy development and implementation. Ability to change priorities as issues arise; root‑cause problem solving; work independently; perform reviews of program activities; analyze data, reporting, and evaluation of staff qualifications; support a diverse, multicultural workforce that reflects the community; promote equal opportunity at all levels of public employment; create an inclusive work environment that enables all individuals to perform to their fullest potential free from discrimination. Educational and Experience Requirements Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a laboratory science or related field plus 6+ years of professional work experience, including at least 2 years of supervisory or lead capacity experience.
