This role is ideal for someone who enjoys independent research, deep analysis, and detailed regulatory work. Key responsibilities include conducting compliance audits, reviewing wagering data and system reports, researching wagering offerings, and documenting findings. If you are motivated by ensuring integrity and public trust in a growing industry, we encourage you to apply.Examples of WorkConducts ongoing reviews and audits of sports wagering systems, activities, reports, transactions, internal controls, and wagering offerings to ensure compliance with NRGC statutes, regulations, and approved procedures.Accesses and reviews sportsbook reporting systems, back-of-house systems, surveillance, and other records to verify activity, evaluate compliance, and support audit findings.Analyzes wagering data, system reports, patron activity, voided or cancelled wagers, kiosk activity, event offerings, and other sportsbook records to identify discrepancies, regulatory concerns, or potential violations.Evaluates requests from operators and sports wagering service providers regarding potential wagers, events, leagues, catalog additions, and similar regulatory matters.Drafts clear and comprehensive audit reports, summaries, correspondence, and recommendations related to compliance findings, approvals, denials, or required corrective action.Identifies and reports potential violations, including unauthorized wagering offerings, prohibited participant issues, system control deficiencies, or other non-compliance matters.Monitors wagering systems and operator controls to help ensure that only authorized patrons, approved events, and permitted wager types are available for sports wagering in Nebraska.Communicates with casino management, sportsbook operators, sports wagering service providers, registered vendors, NRGC staff, and other stakeholders regarding compliance reviews, audit findings, and regulatory expectations.Provides backup support for Compliance Representative I duties, including monitoring the gaming floor, assisting with slot machine testing, and supporting other gaming compliance activities as needed.Assists individuals entering the Self-Exclusion Program and monitors adherence to self-exclusion requirements, including restricted access to gaming floors and sports wagering areas.Performs additional duties as needed to support the Commission’s regulatory responsibilities and evolving operational needs.While this position focuses on sportsbook compliance, it is not involved in wagering, predicting game outcomes, or entertainment focused sports activities. It is a regulatory, analytical, and research driven role dedicated to ensuring compliance and protecting the integrity of Nebraska’s gaming industry.Requirements / Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications : Associate degree in criminal justice, accounting, or gaming related field and one year of appropriate work experience in the field of compliance in a gaming facility, security, or surveillance at a technical level; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.Preferred: Preferred candidates will have two or more years’ experience working in a regulatory compliance role.Other : This position requires regular in-state travel. As such, the incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide independent authorized transportation and drive a state vehicle as necessary. Regular and reliable attendance is required. **NRGC employees are prohibited from gambling or placing a wager in any establishment licensed by the Commission.**Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesKnowledge of, or ability to learn, regulatory compliance principles, audit practices, internal controls, and applicable laws, rules, and procedures.Proven accountability in ensuring accuracy, transparency, confidentiality, and adherence to regulatory standards.Strong organizational skills to manage records, prioritize responsibilities, track follow-up items, and meet deadlines.Self-motivation and initiative to complete assigned work independently while following established procedures and supervisory direction.Strong attention to detail, including the ability to identify inconsistencies, anomalies, and potential compliance concerns in reports, records, and documentation.Ability to analyze information and data to determine what occurred, why it occurred, what risk may exist, and what action may be appropriate.Professional curiosity, with ability to research unfamiliar issues and recognize when additional review is needed.Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills to document findings, prepare reports, explain outcomes, and collaborate with team members and stakeholders.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate varied issues objectively and recommend appropriate solutions.Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to organize, review, and analyze data.If you're currently employed by the State of Nebraska, please don't apply through this external career site.
