The Filler Operator on 3rd shift operates and maintains filling and packaging equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role sets up and runs processing machines, performs minor mechanical adjustments and repairs, supports quality and safety standards, and assists with cleaning and changeovers. The position follows a 2/2/3 schedule from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate production on the processing line.

Responsibilities

• Operate filling and packaging equipment safely and efficiently throughout the 3rd shift.
• Set up jobs on machines by feeding containers onto the conveyor line and entering product information into computer systems.
• Complete daily and weekly preventative maintenance tasks on assigned equipment as directed.
• Adjust and align all primary functions of the machinery to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and replace designated defective parts on production equipment.
• Conduct quality audits of filled products to ensure they meet maximum and minimum fill line specifications.
• Assist with packing and production at the end of each line as needed to meet production targets.
• Stop machines and assist in breaking down and mechanically disassembling equipment for Clean-In-Place (CIP) procedures, including working in wet conditions when required.
• Maintain full compliance with GMP and HACCP/FDA regulations for food manufacturing.
• Accurately complete daily production records, quality reports, and other required documentation.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures, including the use of required hearing protection and other personal protective equipment.
• Assist in training production assistants on GMP standards, safety rules, and proper equipment operation.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify and resolve production, quality, or mechanical issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with food safety and housekeeping standards.

Essential Skills

• Experience as a machine operator, packaging operator, filler operator, or production line operator in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with processing or food processing machinery.
• Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and use basic hand tools safely and effectively.
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within a production setting.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Strong attention to detail when monitoring fill levels and product quality.
• Capability to work a 3rd shift schedule (5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) on a 2/2/3 rotation.
• Ability to work effectively in a loud, warm, and fast-paced environment.
• Reliable work history and the ability to present and interview professionally.
• For mechanically focused candidates: at least 3 years of recent experience in a very mechanical role such as diesel mechanic, automotive mechanic, mechanical assembler, or maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in food manufacturing or operating food processing machines is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience on a production line in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
• Background using hand tools in a mechanical or production setting, with a willingness to be trained on specific equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new machinery and processes quickly.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in troubleshooting equipment.
• Motivation to grow beyond frontline roles into lead, training, or operations positions over time.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA.

The pay range for this position is $22.48 - $22.48/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA.
