The Front Desk Residential Monitor is responsible for client-facing duties as well as general office management tasks in a supportive housing facility. The position supports the goals of the Residential Program to ensure the safety of the residents, the facility, and its grounds, and to maintain order within the facility at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time):

Carry out the regular activities to ensure order and safety.

1. Manage entry into the facility through use of the door release button. Greet clients, customers, visitors and vendors as soon as they arrive, ensuring that sign-in to, and sign out of the facility procedures are followed as appropriate. Connect arrivals with the appropriate party as necessary.

2. Answer the phone in a timely manner and direct calls to the appropriate office.

3. Report and record incidents immediately after occurrence and execute necessary procedures

4. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with residents, gaining mutual respect and cooperation to facilitate a secure environment for residents and staff.

5. Maintain front desk files to allow for easy identification of residents and their families.

6. Follow established procedures for resolving emergencies as directed by Program Director.

7. Routinely monitor inside and outside cameras for suspicious activity; notify appropriate staff or contact police or the fire department as indicated for immediate action.

8. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Working Relationship/Interaction:

1. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with residents, gaining mutual respect and cooperation.

2. Communicate effectively within area of responsibility.

3. Consistently inform the Program Director and others who may be affected concerning security issues.

Qualifications (Education and/or Experience): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required:

· High School Diploma or GED

· Adult/Child CPR and in-service training required within the first six (6) months of employment and yearly thereafter.

· Good interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to follow instructions and guidelines

· Ability to work as a team player with all program components

· Ability to cope with a variety of situations, emotional and physical

· Ability to use good “common sense” and knowledge of when and how to get help.

· Physical stamina to climb three (3) flights of stairs

· Good hearing, smelling and observation skills

· Good writing skills

Founded in 1986, Hope House STL is a 50-unit supportive housing program for homeless women with preschool children. Located in a residential neighborhood in northwest St. Louis City, Hope House STL is a 32,000 square foot complex consisting of 50 housing units, administrative offices, an on-site Child Development Center, and a multi-purpose Family Learning Center. A small food pantry is maintained for families entering the program and may need food on an emergency basis.
