Mechanical Engineer - Federal Buildings

Responsibilities Develop overall conceptual and basis of design level design approaches and documentation. Develop HVAC and plant utility systems philosophies, mechanical/utility equipment and construction specifications. Perform temperature/humidity control/utility load calculations, airflow diagrams, pressurization plans, classification, ductwork and piping plans, equipment plans, plant utility distribution plans, system details, and BMS control philosophy, details, and sequence of operations. Perform construction assistance through submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field visits to verify construction of mechanical/utilities scope is executed per the intent of the design and assist in start‑up of systems when required. Direct the activities of Revit designers and use Revit when necessary. Manage and develop mechanical/utilities scope for project budgets and schedules. Travel as required for client development and project implementation. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment) At least 4 years of relevant professional experience for HVAC/Mechanical building‑related design projects (Federal including DoD, Federal Civilian and/or Defense Contractor project experience preferred) Experience working in a multi‑discipline environment Experience with Revit Proficiency in load calculation/energy modeling software such as Trane Trace 700, Trace 3D Plus, Carrier HAP, etc. Knowledge of building codes & standards (International Mechanical Code, UFC’s etc.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills United States Citizenship Preferred Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff Experience designing hydronic heating and cooling systems including air‑cooled chillers, water‑cooled chillers, and hot water boiler systems Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam United States Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain Benefits Employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount. Compensation The base salary range for this position is $91,400.00 to $159,900.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
