Director, Global Strategic Sourcing

Position Description Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Global Strategic Sourcing to join the Data Power & Control Division Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA . Reporting to the VP, Strategic Sourcing, the director will define, implement, and lead the global sourcing strategy for direct materials, indirect spend, and outside value‑add manufacturing that enables BUS to scale as a $2B annual revenue‑generating business unit and a key player in the global data center market. Responsibilities Set and execute the global sourcing strategy to enable BUS profitable growth to $2B revenue, including a multi‑year category strategy portfolio (direct, indirect, and outsourced manufacturing) aligned to product roadmaps, customer requirements, and global data center market dynamics. Build supply resilience through dual/secondary sourcing, localization/nearshoring where appropriate, supplier capacity reservations, and business continuity plans; regularly monitor execution, report progress, and lead recovery actions to protect customer commitments. Own market intelligence, commodity strategy, and total cost modeling (e.g., should‑cost, TCO, landed cost) across applicable commodities; identify and deliver sustainable cost and lead‑time reduction opportunities with quantified business cases. Deploy supplier business management (SBM) including segmented scorecards, QDIP performance governance, quarterly business reviews, corrective action, and supplier development activities. Develop strategic supplier partnerships that support innovation, scalability, and time‑to‑market through structured collaboration (e.g., design‑to‑cost, VA/VE, supplier‑enabled engineering). Lead negotiation and contracting for strategic agreements (pricing, terms, capacity, quality, IP, and risk); ensure compliant contracts are in place to protect Legrand’s interests and secure reliable supply at competitive total cost. Expand and optimize the global supply base to support cost, service, and risk management objectives while maintaining appropriate regional flexibility. Establish and maintain sourcing governance, policies, and operating cadence (pipeline reviews, savings validation, supplier risk reviews, and executive reporting). Own and report BU sourcing KPIs, including Supplier Business Management, Supply Chain Risk & Resilience, Material Productivity, Supplier CSR/ESG compliance, and NPD Procurement readiness (cost, lead time, PPAP/qualification, and launch support). Success Measures / Key Expectations First 6–12 months: establish category strategies for top spend commodities, implement supplier segmentation and scorecards, and establish an executive reporting cadence. Supply resilience: complete a critical‑component risk assessment and deliver dual/secondary sourcing or recovery plans for high‑risk items; implement business continuity playbooks for top suppliers. Value creation: deliver an annual, validated material productivity plan (cost, terms, and working capital) with a multi‑year pipeline aligned to growth and NPD roadmap. NPD readiness: ensure sourcing deliverables for new product introductions (supplier selection, qualification, PPAP/FAI where applicable, and commercial agreements) meet launch timing and cost targets. 24 months: demonstrate sustained improvements in QDIP, lead time, and service levels; mature supplier business reviews and development plans; and measurably improve risk posture, cost competitiveness, and capacity readiness. CSR/ESG compliance: improve supplier CSR adherence and audit readiness in alignment with LNCA/Legrand expectations, including traceability and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to data center customers. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA preferred. Experience Minimum 10 years of progressive global sourcing/category management experience in a manufacturing environment, including multi‑site operations and international supplier networks. Proven track record of leading sourcing in a global, fast‑paced, growth‑oriented manufacturing environment, with experience scaling processes and supplier capacity across both smaller organizations and complex, matrixed global enterprises. Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional sourcing programs (cost, capacity, risk, NPD), including planning, prioritization, and stakeholder coordination; comfortable operating with ambiguity and making trade‑offs to protect customers. People leader with a transformational approach—builds, coaches, and develops a high‑performing sourcing organization (direct and matrixed), establishes standard work, and strengthens talent through development and recruitment as needed. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Knowledge of global material and component markets (cost, capacity, and availability) across metals, electrical, and electronics commodities; applies market intelligence to inform strategy and negotiations. Experience with negotiation and contracting, including delivering validated productivity, improving terms, and driving supplier performance through a structured process. Ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones and travel globally as required to develop suppliers, audit capabilities, and lead key negotiations and reviews; extensive travel required (up to 50% initially, overall average ~25%). Executive presence with excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to synthesize data into clear narratives, influence senior leadership, and communicate credibly with strategic suppliers and key customers; experience supporting highly regulated or uptime‑critical markets is strongly preferred.
