Wastewater Plant Supervisor I

Position Overview Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is hiring a Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor to report to the Area Manager. The Supervisor is responsible for efficient, compliant, and economical operation of wastewater treatment facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Responsible for compliance with all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to wastewater treatment plants. Provide capital and operational budget planning and implementation for wastewater facilities. Schedule personnel and assign tasks and duties. Establish and implement procedures for process control operations and facility SOPs. Provide training and supervision to Wastewater Plant Department employees. Champion the quality process. Submit all regulatory reports (MORs, DMRs, RDCs, Turbidity reports and other applicable reports). Participate in and make presentations during departmental meetings. Ensure compliance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Attend laboratory, quality control and process related seminars and meetings. Investigate plant upsets and determine corrective action. Provide direct or indirect support to other departments (Customer Service, Wastewater Collection and administrative staff). Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS At least 3 years of experience operating in a wastewater treatment facility or other applicable experience. Significant experience in wastewater operations and laboratory procedures. Possession of a Class 3 Wastewater Operator’s License from Indiana; Class 4 preferred. Knowledge of NPDES limits for wastewater quality and facility regulations. Thorough knowledge of laboratory regulations and quality control procedures. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Valid Indiana driver’s license required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS Working conditions include travel to work sites, possibly extreme temperatures, noise, wet/humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation. Frequently required to maneuver uneven surfaces, steps, stairs, ladders, platforms. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
