Public Area Attendant - Part-Time

Job Summary Maintain and clean all guest corridors, linen closets, public areas, surfaces and any other assigned areas in accordance with NOBU hotel’s standards of cleanliness. Provide guests with a fully‑stocked and well‑maintained mini bar throughout their stay. Inventory all guest’ mini bar on a daily basis and post the appropriate charges to the room daily prior to guest departure. Essential Functions Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment, using equipment only as intended. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. Ensure security of any assigned keys and phone. Review assignment sheet and update completed assignments. Check with Housekeeping Supervisor and Housekeeping office for additional assignments throughout the shift. Organize work‑duty priorities. Review assigned area and complete general removal of any trash or debris on floors. Clean designated areas with proper chemicals, tools and equipment for guest meeting rooms, public rest rooms, restaurant area, service corridors, offices, bar area, guest vending areas, stairwells, ensuring nothing is stored in stairwells. Check under furniture for debris and remove if present. Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips and stains and report damages to supervisor. Dust and polish all woodwork. Remove all dust, debris and foreign particles from upholstered furniture, including crevices and under cushions. Dust pictures, frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs, air vents. Clean all lamps, light fixtures and light switches; check for proper working condition. Remove dust, spots and smears from windows, frames and ledges; wash windows as assigned. Remove dust, grease and smears from house/public phones and reposition properly. Inspect condition of planters and plants; remove debris, polish planters in a garden. Remove dust, dirt, marks and fingerprints from doors and door frames. Remove stains, scuff marks and dust from baseboards, ledges and corners. Polish all brass surfaces. Empty trash containers, ashtrays and ash urns in public areas. Remove trash, debris and cobwebs from the garden and clean around of the hotel. Empty vacuum cleaner bags, replace and clean machines. Provide timely delivery of any items requested by guests, retrieving items from guest rooms and returning them to proper storage areas if needed. Transport guest laundry and dry cleaning to correct guest rooms if needed. Handle guest requests for shoe shines as assigned; retrieve shoes from guest room, shine shoes and return to guest room if needed. Report any damages or maintenance problems to the supervisor. Turn over any lost and found items to the supervisor. Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property. Other Duties Make up cribs and rollaway beds; transport to designated rooms if needed. Turn mattress and box springs according to rotation schedule if needed. Assist runners as assigned. Stock public‑area supplies cupboard. All colleagues are required to fully comply with hotel and departmental rules, regulations and policies for the safe, secure, effective and environmentally friendly operation of the hotel facilities. Attend and participate in all hotel and/or departmental meetings, training sessions and other information meetings. Comply with the hotel’s attendance policies. Comply with hotel grooming standards for both uniformed and non‑uniformed colleagues. Comply with hotel service and behavioral standards towards our guests, vendors and fellow colleagues, including, but not limited to, ensuring proper phone etiquette, courteous and respectful behavior and maintaining a friendly and positive attitude. Perform all other duties as directed by management that are consistent with the policies and procedures of the hotel. Navigate each shift fluidly and freely perform duties outside of assigned classification. Qualifications Education : HighSchool Diploma or Equivalent. Experience : Prior housekeeping experience, customer service with a four‑star hotel brand preferred. Physical Requirements : Must be able to stand and bend for long periods, walk continuously, push and pull rolling carts, lift boxes up to 150lb, tuck, bend, squat and reach to complete cleaning tasks. Must be able to work in underground garages (100+°F), kitchens (100+°F) and outside in the elements. Physical Environment : Constant standing and walking; frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lb; occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps; indoor temperature controlled environment. Manual Skills : Significant application of manual skills requiring motor coordination and finger dexterity. Computer Skill & Other Technical Skills : Ability to learn, utilize and communicate effectively via company‑issued communication devices; basic computer and mathematical skills; ability to learn and utilize computer software and hardware required; basic keyboard maneuvering. Communication : Ability to comprehend and speak English to understand and respond to information and address advanced guest requests both verbally and in writing; knowledge of additional language(s) preferred. Must be customer‑service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays. Must be of legal age to serve alcohol. Physical Environment & Safety Responsible for operating within hotel safety guidelines, including safe handling of chemicals and use of personal protective equipment when appropriate. Reports and addresses safety concerns as they arise. Work Schedule Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
