As we look to the future, a new patient tower under construction and major campus renovations underway will deliver even greater access to advanced care in neuroscience, heart and vascular services, digestive health, and an expanded Emergency Department. Position Summary This person will serve as a representative to foster EMS relationships within the community and improve current EMS processes with the Emergency Department. This person will also be responsible for assisting in implementing new initiatives to improve EMS processes and relationships with the community, servicing EMS Agencies and the ER. Key Responsibilities Clinical/Business Operations Under general direction of a program manager, the candidate coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the technical and quality aspects of emergency medical services activities. Serves as a liaison with other emergency medical service providers and governing agencies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements or providing assistance and/or guidance to service providers as necessary. Acts as a liaison between EMS and ER leadership when needed. Serves as an entity representative for regional and statewide EMS meetings, conferences, and seminars as needed. Participates as needed in city‑wide educational symposiums for caregivers and EMS agencies. Participates in curriculum, market events, and maintains required training records and/or rosters. Program Management Supports and assists business growth strategies for EMS services to advance the tertiary care facility strategy. Facilitates team projects related to programmatic growth, serving as a resource and subject‑matter expert for other Texas Health entities seeking to enhance their EMS services. Works as a department and entity resource/expert in the field of EMS as needed in the absence of a program manager. Quality and Performance Improvement Utilizes data collection and reporting tools to monitor and evaluate quality metrics and report outcomes. Identifies opportunities for improvement in medical response, patient/employee safety, supplies, equipment, and new practice methodologies in conjunction with the program manager. Works in collaboration with appropriate entity or system representatives to implement solutions addressing identified gaps. Monitors changes in state/federal regulations in conjunction with facility leadership. Maintains recommendations regarding new or revised procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Analyzes data to identify trends or opportunities for improvement and recommends the appropriate course of action as needed. Utilizes the PDSA process for continuous improvement and/or sustained results. Financial Operations Presents training time and cost estimates related to the implementation of new procedures or guidelines as needed. Manages the approved budget through frequent and regular monitoring. Professional Accountability Participates in hospital initiatives, serves on hospital and system‑based committees, maintains current licensure and certification, adheres to hospital and system policies, completes mandatory training and annual employee health screening, maintains the safety of the work environment, recognizes and communicates ethical and legal concerns through established channels, maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations, demonstrates accountability and responsibility by completing projects and assignments on time, maintains confidentiality at all times, and performs other work reasonably related to the employee’s position. Provides safe patient care under the delegation of an appropriate physician and competency sign‑off; other duties as appropriately delegated by an RN. Professional Development Participates in change; understands, promotes, and values evidence‑based practices, quality improvement, and/or research, and utilizes them in practice; follows guidelines and recommendations defined by regulatory or professional practice agencies; provides daily care that achieves outcome targets for core measures, NPSG, employee satisfaction, patient satisfaction, NDNQI, and other unit/organizational metrics; demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning and development; demonstrates a commitment to advancing the professional practice of paramedicine; incorporates ethical principles from the Texas Department of State Health Services EMT Code of Ethics. KPIs Assists in meeting departmental/hospital KPIs related to patient outcomes, customer satisfaction, financial performance, organizational effectiveness, and community health care. Education H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required. Experience 2 Years of recent experience in emergency medical services, pre‑hospital emergency medicine or another clinically related discipline Required. Fire Fighter / EMS Paramedic experience Strongly Preferred. Licenses and Certifications EMT‑P - Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (Upon Hire Required). LP - Licensed Paramedic (Upon Hire Preferred).
