Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:

The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients immediately following surgery, ensuring safe recovery and transition to subsequent care levels. The nurse collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and evaluate patient needs during the peri-anesthesia continuum.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' physical, psychological, and social needs during pre- and post-anesthesia phases.
• Assist with nerve blocks and develop individualized care plans to address patient goals and needs.
• Communicate effectively with anesthesia professionals and other team members to ensure continuity of care.
• Monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions, adjusting care plans as needed.
• Provide immediate post-anesthesia care, adhering to ASPAN standards and transitioning patients to appropriate care levels.
• Respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes, providing critical interventions as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of PACU experience in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Valid Ohio RN license.
• Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, clinical judgment, and collaborative teamwork.
• Able to float to units within scope of practice and skill set.
• Work history with recent references from supervisory roles.
