Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position in an acute care setting, requiring a WV or compact RN license and prior travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a 32-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
• Patients are adult and geriatric surgical, orthopedic, urology, and general medical cases including hips, shoulders, and knees
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• Remote telemetry monitoring is available 24/7
• Required to titrate drips, including heparin and preferably cardiac drips
• Required to work three 12-hour night shifts per week (7p-7a)
• Rotating weekends and holiday coverage required
• Floating may be required to other Med/Surg units or to patients boarded in the Emergency Department
• Uses Epic EMR
• Candidates cannot have been employed at any WVU Medicine facility in the past 2 years
• Travelers may work within the system for up to 1 year before a required 2-year break
• No local travelers allowed within a 50-mile radius
• RNs may be asked to fill in as Charge Nurse and will receive cross-training if willing
• Navy scrubs are required with solid-color dress code and closed-toe shoes
• Orientation includes general hospital orientation, full day nursing orientation, computer training, and two 12-hour precepted shifts
• Initial Skills Checklist due within 90 days of starting

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 1 year Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Documented prior travel nursing experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience with titrating drips and caring for post-op and medical patients
• Ability to work night shifts with rotating weekends and holidays
