Senior Project Engineer – Heavy Civil / Rail Infrastructure Location: Norwalk, CT We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join a high-profile infrastructure project in Norwalk, CT, supporting one of the most complex rail and bridge replacement efforts in the Northeast. This role is ideal for a driven engineer who thrives in fast-paced, technically demanding environments and wants to be part of a landmark project with long-term impact. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a key role in managing day-to-day project execution, coordinating subcontractors, supporting construction sequencing, and ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with contract requirements. Key Responsibilities Support project management teams with planning, scheduling, and execution of large-scale civil construction activities Coordinate and manage subcontractors, including tracking progress, quantities, and compliance with plans and specifications Assist with constructability reviews, means and methods, and work sequencing in constrained environments Manage RFIs, submittals, change documentation, and cost tracking Interface with field teams, designers, inspectors, and client representatives Support quality control, safety initiatives, and documentation requirements Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field 5+ years of experience on large infrastructure projects Background in rail, bridge/structures, heavy civil, or complex transportation work strongly preferred Proven experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multi-discipline scopes of work Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a highly regulated, schedule-critical environment Why This Role This project represents some of the most challenging civil construction work in the region—tight tolerances, active rail operations, complex staging, and significant coordination across multiple stakeholders.
